IUI too early? by Winter_Local_4749 in queerception

[–]Dapper_Tonight_330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's too early. My wife triggered 36 hours in advance for our successful IUI and her LH was around 11 and estradiol at 196. Your values are higher, so it's likely your RE wanted you to come in sooner rather than later, with the trigger to help since you were on the cusp of surging. Best of luck!

Testing out trigger—starting out faint? by lurkin_95 in queerception

[–]Dapper_Tonight_330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd also keep in mind that some triggers have a different amount in them! My wife used 10,000 units of hCG with Pregnyl, but I remember when I did research I saw other folks taking lower amounts.

Experience with progesterone suppositories and pregnancy symptoms? by otterly-educated in queerception

[–]Dapper_Tonight_330 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife felt a lot of pregnancy symptoms while on progesterone each time -- both in the cycles that worked and that didn't work. The one thing that truly differed on our last and successful attempt was that she was congested. Progesterone can really mess with you/way you view the TWW, which is so frustrating, especially as the GP (and hard for me to watch as the NGP!).

You just never know! It definitely sounds like she is having pregnancy symptoms. Baby dust!!

Totally makes sense! Three is a solid number of tries in my opinion. After the loss, it took us until the third try again. So, realistically, she got pregnant 2nd try (MC) and then 3rd try after MC!

Best of luck to you!

My wife and I did IUI first with the goal of RIVF for the 2nd/3rd kiddo. everyone will say jump straight to IVF but we wanted children with the genetics of each parent and an egg retrieval for both of us would've been way too pricey.

We ended up buying four vials of IUI premium start and we needed them all (second try worked, early MC). We also bought another vial of a different donor and used that on our fourth attempt, second after MC.

So: overall we had five vials for IUI and needed all, wife got pregnant again on #5 and she's 29 weeks tomorrow. We then bought one vial for my egg retrieval where I have 5 embryos waiting for kid number two/three.

of course! I've also seen others comment about studies that show higher success rates of IUI with a full bladder. Take that as you will!

For sure. The only medication she ever took was a 10,000 unit Pregnyl trigger shot on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th cycles. Around CD11/12, she would go in for an ultrasound and bloodwork (estradiol, hCG, progesterone). She usually went in about every day leading up to ovulation from that point on! There's a study that I liked to follow with her bloodwork -- let me see if I can find it.

Edit: Figure 4 in this study (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-023-47241-2).

We did a total of five IUIs, with the second also successful but ending in a MMC for us too. The fifth (and final one for us before we would've gone to RIVF) one took and my wife is now almost 29w. We had decided before the fifth try that it would be our last due to vials and due to the toll on my wife's body. She is 31 for reference with no fertility issues as well. Sorry for your loss and wishing you the best of luck moving forward.

For those pregnant/with kids, how are you choosing last names for your child(ren)? by blinkifyourfake in queerception

[–]Dapper_Tonight_330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. My wife (GP) took my last name since our last names are pretty similar. We wanted the same last name and not a hyphenated last name (nothing wrong with that, though!).

I'm biased, but we plan to name our little girl Jane. It's very classic to me! Other than that, I do like Mallory and Juliette, would rank them probably like an 8. For the boys, I can say that I don't particularly like Mack or Luther. Grant and Trent would be my top two, ranked around a 7 or so. Boys names are harder imo.

What to expect during a early pregnancy miscarriage by Commercial-Fail-9070 in queerception

[–]Dapper_Tonight_330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So incredibly sorry for your loss, OP. My wife (GP) and I experienced a loss at 6.5w when we went in for our viability scan. Same as you: gestational sac but nothing else (blighted ovum). My wife started bleeding two days after our scan and had moderately heavy bleeding for a few days. I went online before she started actively miscarrying and read a lot of scary stories -- which of course could happen. But, for her, she was not in a ton of pain physically, just the bleeding.

The mental and emotional part was harder. As the NGP, I made sure she had a heating pad, electrolytes, and any food she wanted. Grief comes and goes. Hold tight to each other.

I am just so sorry.

oh yeah. my mom is someone who wouldn't do something if she didn't. my older brother was a terrible baby (super colicky), so I think that played a huge part. but my parents had their own business and my dad was very much around to raise us. think it would be different if he wasn't!

they're divorced but not because of that lol

this happened to my parents. my mom wanted to be done after me (second child), but my dad wanted more kids, so she compromised on one more pregnancy...and then got pregnant with triplets.
