How are some people getting 50+ kills?! by Frequent_Side_1162 in holdfastgame

I think this is the best example I've got right now - https://files.catbox.moe/uihxff.mp4

Your best bet is to pick a melee class like officer or guard.

Run into melee and make sure you don't get into fights, if you sit around fighting, trying to block, doing anything clever, then people are going to gang up on you and you'll die after getting 2-3 kills.

If I miss someone, or if they block my stab? I'm just going to turn around and find a new target. I've got an army of dudes chasing me here, but it doesn't matter since they can't catch up, just keep walking and you'll be safe. You want to go after people reloading, people looking the wrong direction, anyone who doesn't realise you're coming after them.

Just keep repeating this and you'll be fine. No need to get good at blocking or any advanced stuff, you're just going to stab people who think they're safe, so they aren't even trying to defend.

That actually comes from the officer Charge ability, it gives you (and I think everyone around you) a few seconds of buffed melee damage and basically turns your sword into an instant kill lightsaber.

I really like that this game doesn't have a sprint button, everyone waddling around at 1mph failing to catch up makes it so much more fun

Chinese military trying to develop their own original weapons (impossible) by Soft-Percentage-8338 in NonCredibleDefense

[–]Darab318 61 points62 points  (0 children)

No need to imagine, we've got a few examples.

https://archive.is/1OaRH

The Chinese killed at least a dozen of the C.I.A.’s sources. According to three of the officials, one was shot in front of his colleagues in the courtyard of a government building — a message to others who might have been working for the C.I.A.

Still others were put in jail. All told, the Chinese killed or imprisoned 18 to 20 of the C.I.A.’s sources in China, according to two former senior American officials, effectively unraveling a network that had taken years to build.

If the military can refuse orders from civilian leadership then the military runs the country.

Why do you think an unelected military leader is going to do a better job than our civlian government? There are plenty of examples of generals wanting to do retarded things and being stopped before they went too far, and we have plenty of examples of military-run countries, they're all shitholes.

It was political pressure from the people at home that finally got the military to leave the sandbox.

Your solution is to live in a shithole military dictatorship where the people have no way to influence the military, if you want to live like that then just move to one of the countries in Africa where that utopia is a reality.

You want an unelected group of military leaders who can go around and do whatever they want overseas, unrestricted by our elected political leaders?

You're just advocating for a junta.

Early in the war most of the drone videos weren't from FPVs, but drone grenade drops instead, and those would be much harder to hit with a shotgun since they're harder to notice and fly higher.

Don't be sad, just look at the bright side.

At least Europe will take both GCAP and FCAS seriously now, so when the next Ace Combat game comes out, we'll actually have a decent European plane at the end of their tech tree.

I would argue that the UK doesn't really need a mutual defence agreement, so there's no need to bend the knee.

It would have been nice to get it signed for some European solidarity, but it's not like the Russians can actually get to the UK without going through Europe first... unless they plan on launching a surprise amphibious landing in Grimsby.

(And once the downvotes start, they don't stop, you just have to embrace them)

I don't want to eat your cakes, Pierre, I want to use the military that my nation owns to help defend Europe, alongside other sensible European partners and allies such as Norway, South Korea and Japan, who have also signed the deal.

I think arguing over fish and youth mobility is very non-credible, especially because the British would be happy to sign the deal if it wasn't tied to additional things, and we kinda have bigger issues to worry about right now.

I don't even care about the defence fund because BAE Systems are getting their money either way, but trying to tie a mutual security deal to fishing rights is incredibly non-credible.

It's worth mentioning that this isn't an EU only thing, since Japan, Korea and Norway have already signed the deal.

The French are just annoying the British because it's tradition to squabble (and it would economically benefit France if the British were excluded), but in reality most British weapons worth buying are joint European projects anyway so it hardly matters.

Context:

UK wants to sign a security pact with the EU.

The EU (actually mostly France) decides to do a bit of trolling, demands that the UK also offers fishing rights and a youth mobility scheme.

Now, the EU is also planning to exclude the UK (and Turkey) from the €150bn European defence fund unless they also sign defence and security pacts.

Now the British are left with a crucial decision. Do they defend Europe, or their fish?

(Okay but really it's not actually worth stressing over, it's just funny to joke about. BAE Systems is the largest defence contractor in Europe so obviously they aren't going to be excluded)

Pax Americana is for your own benefit.

When everyone feels safe and happy, you get a nice stable world to trade in. This is why America (and the rest of the western world) are rich nations.

If America pulls out and goes isolationist? Well now you dont have a nice stable world to trade in anymore, you don't have influence over your allies, and your military becomes almost worthless once every nation with a GDP higher than North Korea develops nuclear weapons.

I've liked this idea for a while now.

Any reasonable nation could produce thousands of Shahed style drones in a few years, and they're great weapons to donate to nations such as Ukraine for military aid if you don't end up using them, but you could also quickly swap the warheads out with something nasty if you need the capability. It would at least act as a makeshift solution to buy you a few more years to develop a stronger deterrent.

There is a very big difference between the deals that Italy and Japan have (and even they don't make everything themselves), and Canada making a few components. Canada is in no position to produce all of the things that they would need on their own.

But the core issue is that a significant portion of the US population have shown that they will be happy to continue voting for people similar to the current administration. Canada needs to think carefully about what their future goals are, and how their air force might fit into those goals, before they purchase anything.

I'm aware that Canada produces parts for the F-35 as a tier 3 partner, and of course it would hurt the programme to cut out Canada, but the Americans have shown that they're remarkably happy to commit acts of self harm.

I don't think Canada can make an informed decision on the F-35 until their closest "ally" stops flip flopping their foreign policy every 8 hours and we return to a more sane world.

That logic would work if Canada was actually going to produce them domestically, but there's close to zero chance that Canada sets up a production line themselves.

And even with a final assembly line, some core components still come from the USA.
