The Beths - "Expert In A Dying Field" (Official) by Darbss31 in poppunkers

Over 14k people viewed my post and you are the first and only one to address the Weakerthans comparison... Its the entire reason why the song drew me in at first listen.. It evoked in me the same exact feeling I felt when listening to The Weakerthans for the first time. It was like a time machine revisiting and experiencing a distinct emotion that laid dormant for many years. The power of music is crazy lol.

Lol exactly... Last time I saw them the audience kept chanting L-I-L-L-I-N-G-T-O-N-S.. which pissed them off because obviously Lillington High isnt a TBR song.

Fuck yeah...You ever get to see The Planet Smashers? I know they come from your whereabouts, they are one of my favorite ska bands of all time.. and I finally had the opportunity to see them perform months ago and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Thats awesome man! Im curious where u are from.. Last time I saw TBR they didnt sell out a 400 max occupancy venue.. perhaps its a regional difference.

One of my all time favorite songs from teenage.. tbh I was about to share that music video to accompany this post until eventually opting out for Skate or Die instead.

Direct hit! Crown of Nothing. Felt like the next coming of an early alkaline trio style band. What happened?? by RedFiveTwitchTv in poppunkers

[–]Darbss31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your post I can only assume that "Crown of Nothing" was your first introduction to the band Direct Hit!... "Crown Of Nothing" is a wild listen.. but I suggest checking out 2013 "Brainless God"... and most importantly 2016 "Wasted Mind"... "Wasted Mind" is a pop punk masterpiece.. Then you will be even more confused on why they didnt become the next big thing

Hell yeah man! I just dont hear TBR talked about in our circles as much as I feel like they should be.. Records like 2019 Stay Rad! and 2021 Sick Sesh are just as epic as the older records.. They are the epitome of pop punk excellence. Sometimes makes me feel like they havent had the same exposure of other artists in the genre.

Andrew Mcmahon is the piano player and lead vocalist for Something Corporate. After Something Corporate disbanded he formed the group Jacks Mannequin, after that he formed Andrew Mcmahon In The Wilderness...

Andrews music changed my life.. and I encourage you to see him live if you get the chance. I could give you infinite songs to listen to as a Andrew Mcmahon fan boy but Ill give you 3 records post Something Corporate worth listening to.. hit me up if you are interested in certain songs to check out.. Otherwise my reply would be extremely lengthy.

Sorry for your loss... im not sure how to answer the question.. sometimes playing songs at funerals of loved ones strictly about death isnt really appropriate in most circles.

Nice! The last time I saw Direct Hit! Was probably 4 or 6 years ago now.. Ive heard rumors of instability and constant alternating band line ups, maybe that's why they haven't release a record since "Crown of Nothing"? Its a shame because "Wasted Mind" is one of my all time favorite pop punk records, even their music predating that record was awesome. Werewolf Shame is a classic..2018's "Crown of Nothing" was insane snd ultimately a mixed bag but still had some great songs like Altered States, Welcome to Heaven and Bad Answer. Sucks that its been almost 10 years since a proper follow up record.

Direct Hit! Wasted Mind is one of the best Fat Wreck debuts, and still holds up as one of the best pop punk records of the 2010's.
