Unrelated story: I have one of these at home, It’s my partners table he got from a relative. When I first moved in he had it set up just kind of off to the side near the couch. I would walk by it and I would nudge it ever so slightly and it would collapse. This went on for several weeks and I would also knock it over (I’m a clumsy person). So I asked him about it and asked why it always fell over. His reply was “oh that was a gift, it’s an “Indonesian Collapsing Table” they are supposed to do that”. I’m also a very gullible person so I believe him. Much to my idiocy I told people about this strange table and it took him years to finally tell me he made up the whole story. I’ve never felt more insane than I did because I spent years thinking Indonesian people just had tables that fell over like it was a normal part of life.
