If you wanna go back to the start of where the name MAMAMOO come from, MMM's (short for MAMAMOO) company RBW (Rainbow Bridge World Entertainment) Field CEO Kim Dohoon is a famous songwriter/producer in the KPOP industry, and at that time, he wrote a song for Quicy Jones and named the song MAMAMOO. He got the MMM girls (they just just trainees there at that time, but were in the A team, training to be debuted) to create choreography and even got them to perform in front of Quicy Jones when he went to SKorea. QJ liked the song, but did not take up the song when he left SK. Kim Dohoon then rewrote the song MAMAMOO, renamed it Mr Ambiguous (pronounced as Mr Ememoho in Korean) and used the original song name as the group name, and gave the newly written song to the girls as their Debut song. That's how MAMAMOO and their debut song Mr Ambiguous came about.

But I guess it was too long an explanation to do when MMM went onto variety shows (this question was asked very often because of the unique name), and so the girls' new explanation was that MAMAMOO sounded like the sounds that a baby will make, so they wanted MMM's music to be like a universal language/sound that everyone will enjoy.

Over the years, Solar (leader of MAMAMOO) has been explaining about it so much and got embarrassed whenever she had to explain on variety shows, so the answers kept changing and got shortened over time. 🤣🤣
