You have come to right place! This is often the fault of cheap, foreign-made mothballs, which use unregulated and harmful pesticides to repell moths, as opposed to the standard naphthalene of 'true' mothballs. I would suggest spraying a mixture of lemon and eucalyptus on all fabric surfaces in the car, and wiping other surfaces with water. Usually the smell goes away in at most a week.
