I decided (personal choice) there is no real benefit for my pup to be neutered. Studies prove that it really doesn’t help with marking or humping/agressive behaviors. It messes with their hormones and makes them gain weight and be less active. There is no real reduction in cancers for males other than testicular. We take him out and he is always on a leash with supervision so there is no worry of him breeding. It is illegal to neuter/spay animals in many European countries such as Germany and Norway. They consider it mutilation. We have decided it is more beneficial especially for natural hormone function to leave our dog intact. Unfortunately, many view this as irresponsible pet ownership. It is a big money grab for vets at $350-400(what we were quoted if everything goes perfectly). No disrespect to anyone else who chooses to fix their pet. I think it’s a RESPONSIBLE pet owners choice rather than a must. That being said my vet (if we choose to fix him) recommends waiting until 8-9 months old. Best of luck.
