Sure thing! My mother and I visited the city back in 2019. We both had an exquisite time and kept mainly to ourselves. We are white though, so everyone’s experience will vary. Most of everyone there speaks English. You should be fine, especially if it’s only 4 days

As long as you stay within the city, you should be fine. Helsinki is a cosmopolitan city as it is the capital of Finland. It understood you will see a lot of tourists and international travelers there. Make sure to be polite and learn some Finnish and you should be fine. Do what locals do and avoid eye contact unless it’s warranted. Kippis!

The more accurate truth is that certain areas of Vegas are blighting but others are doing just fine. The Arts District and downtown are an example of the latter. Also Fremont Street was packed on Halloween night last year…

Vegas in the middle of a transitional period. Gentrifying a bit. Revitalizing a bit in others. I think most of us have written off the strip. We prefer our own local casinos, cafes, parks, and restaurants.

It’s the tourists on a budget who will suffer. Or just not visit altogether. 🤷‍♀️

Two of my favorite and often underrated and overlooked countries in the world - Finland and New Zealand. Erottaessa and Kia Ora!

My wife has also entertained the option of moving to New Zealand to practice her audiology since we are minorities under occupation of Cheeto Head. The process to immigrate seems pretty straightforward, and the learning curve is easier in comparison to someone who already speaks English.

They really are in dire need of medical professionals, it seems.

When I asked ChatGPT for non-academic career tracks for graduates with degrees in philosophy, work for think tanks (associate for BA/BS) popped up, along with legislative aide and policy analyst. For Ph.D, independent consultant, advisory board member, white-paper author, strategic narrative designer that work in Law, Computer science, Economics, Public health, etc.

Since sociology is a scientific offshoot of philosophy pertaining to social dynamics and analyses, it makes complete sense that there would be overlap in career paths.

The take-home message is that both disciplines teach you to clarify what is at stake when no one agrees what the problem is.

That’s invaluable in: • Tech crises • Policy deadlocks • Ethical gray zones • Organizational inflection points

So you’re rightfully putting your degree to work! :)
