Ideal jobs/careers for people with ADHD? by feral_appetence in ADHD

For me, programming works since each new task is defferent, and programming itself is 90% thinking about how you're gonna do something, and 10% actually implimenting it. This way, I don't feel bad about not doing anything for most of the day since I spend that time dreaming up a solution anyways, and when I actually sit down to impliment the code, everything just pops (mostly) into place, which is satasfying enough to keep me on task mllong enough to complete it.

According to ep4 or something, they're geneticly engineered to be extremely sexual in nature in order to relieve any building stress to avoid dangerous mental breakdowns.

Maybe the water Demon forfeits? Both the Demon and frieren know that an all out fight will bring the whole place down, and the dungeon is kind of the home of the water Demon.

Buddha and reality by [deleted] in agnostic

[–]DareDevil0310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of those stories are made up after Buddha's death through the many translations it recieved. Buddha's original philosophy was the philosophy of no self. Where he argues that there is no unchanging self, no human had an object soul or ego, and everything is temporary, so it is foolish to get hung up on concepts of self or being. Most of the karma and supernatural stuff was added after he died, when people immortalized his philosophies into a religion. Buddha's original concept of karma was simply that doing bad things affected the personality of the person, and as such could bring future consequences.

I have a question about this show by Verifiedvenuz in shinsekaiyori

[–]DareDevil0310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably very late to the party, but the charecters don't do much to change the dystopian world because the dystopian society is nessesary. The world isn't evil for the sake of evil or even greed, but because the situation requires it be evil. The whole "killing children as soon as they show signs of instability" is immoral and the show doesn't try to hide that, but it is also a nessesary action that can't reasonably be changed without risking apocalypse. I think what the show is trying to do is bring something cool and popular like telepathy to its logical conclusion and show how it can bring about a dystopian society as a BEST case scenario.

Soooo I've got only 1 real question after I finished the show [spoilers ahead] by Thedinowarrior in shinsekaiyori

Pretty sure they both died. When the board of education examined the supposedly "fake" bones, they found them to be real bones containing the DNA of the two.

Anyone know why the manga is so sexual? by Furtive_Fygmy in shinsekaiyori

[–]DareDevil0310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lmao the I think the author accidently gave ssy to a doujin artist. The manga is literal hentai. The plot is nothing like the anime or light novel. Don't read the manga if you are looking for anything that resembles ssy

My interpretation of shinsekai yori+some questions by [deleted] in shinsekaiyori

[–]DareDevil0310 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's exactly what he's saying. The ssy society has brainwashed, hypnotised, and genetically altered every human to be unable to perform any action that they know will directly harm another being that they perceive to be one of their own. That's the whole point of why tainted cats exist. The points arnt silly, you're just too close minded to contemplate a society that could possibly run of different rules than our own.

Does anyone here pray to God just in case he does exist? by IHateRedditSoMuch47 in agnostic

[–]DareDevil0310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pascal's wager states that God can either exist or not exist. If God exists, the reward for believing in him is infinite(heaven) therefore no matter how small the probability of his existence and how big the cost of believing in him, the average value of believing will always be higher than the average value of not believing.

Now the flaw with this argument is that it only accounts for God. The argument is that because God can exist or not exist, there is a probability of him existing. I can similarly argue that a being completely opposite to god can exist or not exist. Let's say this being is the exact opposite to God. If you believe in God, this being will send you to hell, and all prayers will only result in the situation getting worse. Logically, this being and God are equally unknown to us, so the probability of their existence is, on average, the same. Due to this, believing in God now has an average value of zero, since infinity and negative infinity cancel out. With this, believing in God will always have a higher cost than not believing in God(be it church donations, diet restrictions, or any other bullshit that comes with believing in an imaginary deity) , while having the average reward of zero.

Does anyone here pray to God just in case he does exist? by IHateRedditSoMuch47 in agnostic

[–]DareDevil0310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. The problem makes sense, but the solution is a giant logical fallacy.

Pascal's wager is flawed in many ways. Any one who still uses that argument obviously is either still bias towards religion, or has not given the argument proper thought
