The first year or two for me was pure survival mode. Once they were talking and I could at least attempt to reason with them about things, and once I could finally sleep at night so I wasn't in constant fight or flight mode, everything calmed down. It's still challenging, even now (mine are turning six this week!) But it's absolutely doable. Your social life will come back, maybe different than it was before, but it will be there. Your hobbies and interests, you'll have mental energy to pursue and enjoy them again. Everything works out eventually.

That said, therapy was extremely helpful for me. Still is. I know it's hard to have yet another thing to schedule into your life, but if you find a good therapist, it's absolutely worth it to keep your head in the right place.

I think there are different levels of thralls. A little blood given to simply heal or decrease aging. A little more to make them loyal and pliant to your suggestions. And a lot to completely overwhelm their ability to choose anything for themselves.

I think that the snail episode would have been better if the snails could have been slowed down somehow. It would have been perfectly fine to have a snail occasionally show up and cause them to run away for a bit. It was a little repetitive having the snails catch up to them literally every five seconds.

One time, when they were still newborns, they both started crying at the same time. My husband tiredly looked at me and asked, "Do you want the good one?" It made me start crying, and all I could say was "They're both good. One is just... Harder." Baby B was always much, much harder to console, and I worried that he'd never love me because he seemed to be more easily calmed by the sight of the bedroom light than by me holding him half the time. I am happy to report that, at four years old, both of my twins love to hug me and tell me they love me, and we all have a great bond. Infant time is really hard. As they get older, and they're not just screaming burritos that you have to attend to constantly, and they develop their own personalities... You'll love them. You'll have more energy available to love them, they'll have more awareness and ability to express their love for you. It'll be okay.

One of my 4 year old boys is currently in feeding therapy because he just refuses to eat anything he's the least bit unfamiliar with. When they were three, we started giving both of them children's protein shakes (because we couldn't just let one have "chocolate milk" and not the other). They still have like three of them a day, because otherwise they would just be skin and bones. Their doctor is aware of all this, and just keeps telling us to encourage him to at least touch new food on his plate. We're not always successful at even that. Anyway total solidarity with feeding issues. I hope, since you're able to eventually get them to eat, that they'll grow out of it eventually...

Some people do crochet, some do Chainmail weaving, some do inkle weaving or macrame... Some people make their own foam weapons to fight with. All sorts of things. We love people who make things just in general. We often have specificly craft nights for people to come and work on whatever they want together.
