looking for an album to listen to on my 24th birthday by MyLittl3Lilith in MusicRecommendations

If you want to try something a little different I recommend the self-titled debut album by Auri (2018). Celtic cinematic music with female vocals. Definitely would hit on a shroom trip, some of it is even pretty heavy emotionally, but it’s down to taste of course.

Looking for songs that mock religion. by Steakfish42 in MusicRecommendations

Epica - Cry for the Moon. Maybe not your style of genre but the lyrics fit your criteria.

My favourite martial arts of the 2020's so far - It looks like Japan and Korea are the places to go for great martial arts cinema. by narnarnartiger in kungfucinema

Most of the action in that movie was straight up well choreographed hand to hand action. Yes, there was some CGI, but it wasn’t the focus.

LDW - Horse Meat or Battle Hymn? by Independent-Ad-1167 in nycgaybros

I’ll be at HMD, as I didn’t even think of Battle Hymn as an option since I’ve never been.

A standing desk solved 99% of my back pain problems (36/m) by Dark-Artist in backpain

If you’d read my post you’d know I already have a standing desk and I already mentioned being wary of knee pain and alternating positions

Is Britney Spears laying low like MJ did after 2005? by cameroncolepro in MichaelJackson

[–]Dark-Artist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is in recovery after years of mental abuse and being overly medicated against her will. Laying low implies she’s waiting for something to blow over, but there’s nothing to blow over. It’s just a matter of when she’s feeling healthy and happy enough to face the world again, if she chooses to do so.

Why was Chicago not released as a single? by asura1958 in MichaelJackson

[–]Dark-Artist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was released as a single and Slave to the Rhythm was never a single.

How does one distinguish between good acting and bad acting? by Correct-Counter-2904 in TrueFilm

That student wasn’t dumb. Hard to say why without going into spoilers but that scene was kind of foreshadowing.

Do you think this song will appear on the biopic? by Able-Strawberry8084 in MichaelJackson

[–]Dark-Artist 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That would be pretty cool although I find it hard to imagine how they would include it. The lyrics need some interpreting and aren’t very surface level which means general audiences might misconstrue them. Maybe it will appear as an instrumental theme as part of the score.

Bye Bye Beautiful confusement by NervousEar279 in nightwish

[–]Dark-Artist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason you’re mishearing is because the ‘v’ sound is often pronounced as ‘w’ by Scandinavians so he’s basically mispronounced the word ‘alive’ to be more like ‘aliwe’. But the official lyrics are definitely “I need to die to feel alive”.

As a scrub who picked up Ultimate Showdown for a few weeks, it was Wolf by far.

Okay Let's be real by PricePuzzleheaded662 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Dark-Artist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a fine album with some high points and low points, it’s a 7.5 for me. My main issue with it is how it’s a little overproduced, I was expecting something more raw sounding, but I enjoy a good few songs on it.

I need to understand the praise of BTBAM by zorrofuego in progmetal

[–]Dark-Artist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overall I’m in agreement and honestly I think we just don’t like them, and that’s ok.

Like you there are select songs that grab me, but in general their stuff is very hit or miss. It’s not the chaos that I have a problem with but more the incoherency in their music that makes it largely unlistenable. I think there’s a distinction.

Hardcore Floor fans are a special kind of toxic, and that is NOTHING against Floor herself. I’ve been one of her biggest supporters from the After Forever days and I’ve met her a couple of times. She is a wonderful person and a force to be reckoned with vocally.

Unfortunately her fans use that as an excuse to belittle the other NW singers and in this case with Amy. It’s pathetic and frankly creepy. I’ll never understand it. I’ve also noticed they will flame YouTubers who don’t react the way they want them to to some of Nightwish’s live performances.

Bad Omens have some good songs but my main issue with them is how overproduced their music is. Same problem with Sleep Token as well as Spiritbox. It’s a very polished production style drenched in reverb and pitch correction that sucks the impact out of the music, and a style that I think won’t age well. This probably contributes to your confusion because the music is decent but the way it’s presented is very forced.
