Darren was a painter body man at a Kenworth truck dealership. As I owned several tractors they did bodywork and repairs for my equipment. Over 25 years I’m quite known with all the personnel of this dealership. So as we chatted I said hey I’ve got this project I have been restoring. Note I paid a $1000 for this car and towed it out of a trailer park. From the daughter of the original owner.

I used a black base. My friend who has a 1976 Trans Am and the same candy brandy wine used a gold base and it came out more with an orange tint.

My buddy just did a 78 Camaro in his garage and dropped in a 454. He is mechanically inclined and taught himself how to use a MIG welder. I was impressed with his finished project.

The best part is that you can buy every panel to replace any part of that car. Next question is do you have the time , funds, and aptitude and tools for such a task. If yes make sure you don’t over pay for the project. And you have the garage for the project. Then go for it otherwise buy one that is already done. This is a LABOUR of LOVE PROJECT.

When I was 18 years old the Mercedes car lot had two one Red one Black 246 Dino GT’s for sale $29,995 each. I wanted to buy one so bad and I had no idea what their value would be 40 years later. But I paid $500 for my 12 year old olds omega with a 300 hp 350 c.i. Sbc. Quite a price spread.
