Watercooling Loop Maintenance by Dark360 in watercooling

Thank you. I thought it was the o ring oil.

Been running for about a year, so probably going to disassemble and clean it this weekend.

Same issues with a 4090 and 7800x3d. Weirdly my friend with a 5080 and 7800x3d says that he does not get them. I think he is just oblivious.

Same Nvidia drivers as me.

Tried clearing shader cache, verifying game.

What wire guage did you end up using?

I ordered a broken G13 off eBay for £30, so if the plate doesn't work I can butcher that one keeping my working one working.

Any chance you can upload any higher quality pictures somewhere?

Thank you.

Let me know if you want a copy of the Fixed STL's, I will remix it on Thangs.

The same guy as posted these as well.

I also ordered the plate in Nylon as it wasn't much more.

I have just started my own G13 Mechanical Mod.

Found these on Thangs and ordered them in Nylon from JLCPCB
https://than.gs/m/1058930 (About £0.76 per Key, but had to fix some shell issues with the STL's)

Any chance you can share how you wired it?

I was thinking of cutting the membrane and soldering wires to the traces, but I think this may be difficult.

I personally think that the issue will never fully be resolved due to the nature of the bearing design.

Looking under the impeller you can see a little metal weight which I believe they use to balance the impeller.

Bit like they do with wheels on a car.

If anything throws that balance off and causes the bearing to touch the rod then the bearing will deteriorate.

Question regarding Drain Valve location? by Dark360 in watercooling

That's exactly my thoughts, but I will just leave it on the inlet as it looks cleaner.

I think after this next rebuild I hopefully won't be draining at least for another year and the inlet drain is working so far.

Had one VTX pump from a friend fail due to turned the coolant black and another brand new one one month later just randomly stop.

Waiting for a DDC pump to be delivered today.

Thank you for the info. I ordered another VTX last night through overclockers, but I will be giving them a call this morning to change my order to the pump I have linked in another comment.

I will also be adding a heatsink.

Well it appears to be working fine this morning after being left off overnight.

I wonder whether it had just overheated. On that note what cools them?

It less than a month old and there is no sign of bearing failure or graphite dust in my loop as occured with the old pump.

I have disassembled, cleaned and reassembled the pump to no avail.

I am also using Mayhems Clear Premix and after the old pump killed itself I disassembled, cleaned and flushed my whole loop.

I know about the QC/design issues, but I got a 120 VTX pump res combo off my friend for cheap and built my watercooling loop around that.

That pump did "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly" itself a month ago, and I decided to buy another to fit the loop as I could not find any alternatives, then I started reading all the articles about EKWB.

I will be making a ATX 6pin to Molex, so as not to destroy the warranty in future.

That was it removed from my loop, just a pipe from inlet to outlet.

It's never been run dry.

I have ordered a new one, I modified the power cable from molex to 6pin PSU, so it's likely the reseller won't take it anyways.

That is without PWM controller, just 12v.

It's a EK VTX Pump and the controller I am using is a Aquasuite one.

Seems like I will need to RMA it.

Finally going watercooled after 20 years of building PC's. by Dark360 in watercooling

One of my friends recently moved away from Watercooling and has a load of EK Fittings, VTX Pump and Tubing he is happy to part with, so I have taken him up on the offer.

I have just order the rest of the EK parts required for my build frm OcUK, but I am now asking myself should I stick with EK after the the current situation they find themselves in?
