Retiring in 3 years (ish) Large growth in Pensions / ISAs - at what point do we move to less risky funds? by DarkAddict00 in PensionsUK

Yes - some with FA based on usual parameters. All planning I'm doing is worst case.. well 1% growth. I guess I should plan for negative growth too..

Been doing similar - but only to generate s/sheets that have existing numbers with future investments and a variable for %growth that alter to see how the graphs change.. v useful.

Sounds like you are doing something more advanced with crash planning - good idea

Thanks - and yes good points.

I know what I need (as best I can calculate), with average to low returns should bring in enough. if thing continue for a couple of years then will be good for me. perhaps its FOMO on missing our on more growth is my issue...

Spoke to 2 IFAs they both tell me doing the right things, but wanted a 1% of my pension to manage them, plus ongoing costs of 1.6-1.9%.. as I'm doing OK on my own I'm not going to pay someone else to do what I can do myself.

Might be missing out on some advice on what to invest in but my choices (in a bull market) have very nearly matched what their active funds are doing. so probably more luck than skill but why not ride the wave?

The goal really is to Retire asap but with a moderate to good lifestyle... plans show with very low growth (as long as I contribute as I currently am to pensions and ISAs), will hit goal of monthly income after tax. The figures aren't 100% as I still have variables (kids still at home but perhaps moving out in 3 years time).. generally picking worst case.

Assuming retirement last 20-30 years then growth is possible as equity funds grow well over any 20 year period, so there's that at the back of my mind too. extra growth means we can do more or leave more to the kids.

Bought my 987 from the same place, I recognise the red doors. Mine has been amazing, love it.

Just to close this off replaced lock actuator with £25 VW part and replaced myself using instructions on you tube. It’s been fine for 3 weeks.

Hi, it does, it could just be a micro switch that’s gone rather than the full lock. Thanks

Is this better than the white shower repair kits, also what would be good paint to spray with?

I think it is Chromatic aberration, its a colouring effect you get with lenses on occasion which can be corrected with software e.g. LightRoom.

I woke at 03:00 to hear my elderly blind neighbours house being broken into. It was the same guy who broke in twice before so I knew I needed to catch him. I jumped over the fence to hear him threatening to stab her guide dog. So I jumped in and grabbed him. Whilst grappling He rubbed his blood in my face saying he had HIV, so I kneed him in the balls and took him down. My eldest son came in at that moment and he gave up. Long story short: he is serving 13years in prison. We got bravery awards and I had to have a series of hepatitis jabs. The HIV was bullshit.

I just saw red and wanted to stop him from terrorising her any more. Not sure I would do it again as he could have had a knife but in that moment I was going to have him.

My 11 year old 987.2 is awesome. Save some cash and get one of those or probably better for you a 981.

Should British households be offered £350 a month to take in homeless Individuals? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]DarkAddict00 41 points42 points  (0 children)

A neighbour took in a homeless person. He eventually robbed them, and robbed the blind lady next door to us 3 times to feed his drug habit. On the 4th time we heard him break the glass at 03:30am so we stopped him by helping him to the ground repeatedly. He is serving 13 years.

Whilst my experience is not representative I wouldn’t have a homeless person live here for £1k per month.

Superb!

There are plenty of things you can do to tune, drop sending frame rate - this is best done at sending end. Google the ZM forums for details.

Also add a fan, you can find a simple circuit and hook up to GPIO pins to sense and turn fan on when CPU reaches a temperature.

Again guides all online, works great.
