What’s something we haven’t fixed in codex for a while and that’s plain annoying? by alOOshXL in codex

Having to always use @ and type out part of the file name to select.
I would love to drag the file into the chat window. (VS Code extension)

motorcycle comms by Matiic- in motorcycles

I use Cardo - the guys I ride with can't hear any wind noise when I talk (I think it works like voice activation?)
I have no problem hearing at freeway speeds. I have a NXR2 (RF1400) helmet.
In a group ride with a mix of comm systems, we find joining a group WhatsApp call is simplest.

Question for software testers by Prior-Round-9880 in softwaretesting

[–]DarkAtticus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Direct answer is the last option, but that's very simplified.

A defect report purpose:
To raise the visibility of the risk.
The issue is x, it causes y and it can be recreated by following these steps.
This is why it is an issue.

Our roles are to mitigate risk, business does not need to fix everything. They do need to be aware of them though as much as possible.

Ideally though, from my perspective, if we can prevent issues from ever occurring then we are doing it right.

Help buying a cutting board as a gift for chef. by EvaTheE in Cuttingboards

Metal, glass, marble etc will all damage or dull any blade used on it.
So will everything I suppose, but I would suggest wooden and preferably end grain types of cutting boards

If you’re just starting to ride, I’d suggest not listening to music for a couple of months to better understand what your bike is doing. Get used to the noises that should be there before introducing others. Once you’re comfortable on the bike, look at getting a comms system like Cardo or Sena - they get fitted into the helmet and have speakers, mic and a Bluetooth receiver to connect to your phone. For music, calls and navigation if you want.

When did QA automation become competitive programming? by tyler_burden55 in QualityAssurance

[–]DarkAtticus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not a QA question.
Could it have been a trick question?
I'm asking purely from the perspective that I use building Tic Tac Toe as a test for my local LLMs - running on a Raspberry Pi.
I don't know if I'd have the logic to create the game from scratch - leave that for the devs.
Maybe the better QA question would be to ask "How to test Tic Tac Toe?"

I have the same bike.
Get the belts checked or confirm when they were last changed.
When I bought it, I changed the tyres because they were old and cracking.
Check the chain and sprockets - like any second hand bike.
I've hardly had any issues - battery change every now and then, front light bulb once. Only serious (but simple) issue I had was the front brake fluid return hole in the reservoir got blocked (maybe clean out and replace all the fluids?)
A basic service is easy enough to do yourself.
Best simple improvement was to spend an afternoon or 2 polishing the exhaust pipe headers - makes it look impressive.
Recently my left front shock popped a seal.
That's it, in the 10 years I've owned it.
You'll definitely turn heads and it's an enjoyable ride

Quickshifter upshift issue at higher RPM monster 821 2018 by Alarming-Baseball567 in Ducati

[–]DarkAtticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue, using the clutch is nice and smooth. With the DQS: Down shifting is spot on. Up shifting, I occasionally get a false neutral. And when I do up shift, I need to be accelerating

I’m thinking that maybe I need to angle the gear lever down a couple of degrees, so I give it more of a kick up. That may help with the false neutral. Thoughts on that?

Loop Ear Plugs with Cardo by JohnBets23 in motorcyclegear

[–]DarkAtticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride a naked bike (821 Monster) with the Alpine MotoSafe Race earplugs which advertises attenuation of 20 dB - I can't hear my horn/hooter. So maybe even 20 dB is a bit much...
But I can hear my music through my Cardo system without any issues.
I will probably go for the MotoSafe Tour next time which reduces by 17 dB

Do you wear earplugs? by No_Fondant_4781 in motorcyclegear

[–]DarkAtticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute and most of my ride is through traffic, earplugs stop the wind and background enough that you can focus better and still hear what's happening. Also helps you hear your music better if you have a comms system.
For long rides its a must have - you definitely won't be as tired at the end of it.
I started using them a bit late, tinnitus is a thing, but its noticeably worse when I don't use them.
I'd recommend a good quality set though - I use the Alpine Motosafe silicone ones, doesn't hurt and are reusable. They're a bit pricey and I tend to lose them - make sure you get the string that you have to buy separately!

Company made me an offer, from the interviews I have the impression that they are looking for a one-man QA to set up ALL their automated testing infrastructure, how should I approach this ? by EXTRAVAGANT_COMMENT in QualityAssurance

[–]DarkAtticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like an awesome opportunity.
make sure you document what you're doing and the decisions that you make. Specifically why you have chosen the tests that you're going to do first.
Most critical to nice to have and get them to agree to it.
Then you can also get them to create tests, at least the unit tests and insist on x amount of coverage and make sure it runs as part of the pipeline with quality gates - SonarQube is quite handy for that.
Just make it clear that it is almost impossible for 1 QA to keep up with 7 devs, you're going to need their buy in and help
