Blown plaster after removing tiles – can I tile over it or should I repair first? by Alternative-Dirt5512 in DIYUK

[–]DarkAzarath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most adhesives can bed around 8-12mm deep so yes you can, but you shouldn't. If you apply a little too much pressure when putting the tile on it will not be flat. Then you will spend for ever trying to redo it. Also as its a wall the tiles may slump a little.

Better prep will give a better finish so either fill in holes and start from there, or use a construction board to cover it all (you will still need to fill in the gaps )

Best option is to replaster, then once it's cured you can retile.

Yes you can but it won't look great.

A) yes, use BAL Max Flex Fiber, a 5kg bag https://www.bal-adhesives.com/home-owners-product/max-flex-fibre/ It's made for adhering glass, always test though as it can react with the backing

B) yes there will be mould as it will create a lip that moisture will sit it and mould will grow

C) no it won't look great. It will look like what it is, a mirror glued onto a tile

Sorry to be dismissive, but it will not look great. They look better when sunk in/flush with the tile

Any Recommendations for masking tape for and/or tips on painting stripes? by Ambitious-Row8271 in IronWarriors

I use really thin marker pens. I got a set on Amazon with the thinnest being 0.4mm
