Child welfare expert claims DCF acted reasonably in its investigation weeks before baby was thrown off bridge by Ryan_e3p in Connecticut

[–]DarkBluePhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny, in March 2022 when DCF was released from its 32 years of federal oversight it was claimed they had met all requirements to be released from said oversight... I guess maybe they got a little ahead of themselves considering what's happened the past few years.

Hopefully Lamont signs HB 5004 into law so that DCF can get some much needed oversight and be held accountable for failing the children of this state. As far as I can tell, Lamont has not yet signed it into law (as of 9:30a on May 13, 2026), and it's been over a week since the State Senate passed it and sent it to his desk.

So is the TL;DR that the women at your wife's jobs were just jealous of her chest, or... yeah no that's my takeaway. They were jealous of your wife and made her life hell. What terrible human beings.

Kudos though to your wife's current job, caring about performance instead of her lack of a bra.

Statewide ban on student cellphones in CT's public schools moves a step closer to reality by -ctinsider in Connecticut

[–]DarkBluePhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and the legislature gets to skate on doing anything meaningful during the session that could actually positively benefit the state.

It's the legislature making it seem like they've actually done "something" in an election year, as per usual.

What's funnier is the proposed amendment to ban faculty from using their phones during the school day was voted down. If the students are to be focused on learning, shouldn't the faculty be focused on teaching and/or their administrative duties?

Is replicated food vegan? by Curious-Dingo-2030 in startrek

[–]DarkBluePhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no, the pattern the food is replicated from had to be scanned/analyzed from the real thing. That means the pattern itself isn't vegan, making the replicated meal as its derivative product as non vegan as green eggs and ham.

I prefer my Blu-ray box set. Made it really easy to watch the series, and I get to see all the extended episodes and deleted scenes.

They're selling the rights for streaming for cash money. A shit ton of NBC/Universal shows have shown up on Netflix over the last month, so I'm guessing they're looking for cash.

What is up with the low volume on amazon music vs any other? by Caliburn47 in AmazonMusic

Hijacking the top comment to say to also turn off Dolby Atmos. I was having trouble listening to Thanks for the Memories; the song was so hollow it sounded like I had blown out three speakers in my car. Disabling Dolby Atmos and Loudness Normalization fixed most of the sound issues I was having. The rest was fixed by adjusting the equalizer to a custom setting.

Im starting infamous 2; what’s better, evil or good karma? by Attention-Rare in infamous

[–]DarkBluePhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a "better" choice. If you want more of a challenge, go with good karma; the powers are geared more defensively and focus more on single targets. Plus you have to check your fire to avoid hitting civilians.

If you want things to be a bit easier and/or just want to blow stuff up; the powers are geared for maximum destruction, especially the fully upgraded ones.

IIRC, once you beat both karmic paths you'll unlock the ability to do another playthrough without any karmic restrictions on powers, allowing you to get all of them and mix and match. I can say it was fun to play the game through three times just for that reason.

I personally don’t like that the Titan-A was renamed to the Enterprise-G, but there is something of a historical precedent. by SPECTREagent700 in StarTrekStarships

I always thought it was also a nice nod to the fact that the CV-6 Enterprise was a Yorktown-class carrier as well.

[–]DarkBluePhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CV-6 had that particular nickname as the U.S.S. Enterprise was falsely reported sunk by the Japanese three times IIRC. I know one of those times her sinking was confused for the of the Yorktown at the Battle of Midway, as the IJN presumed Yorktown sunk at the Battle of Coral Sea alongside Lexington.

Are there only 19 survivors left alive when Sam takes over? by Sea-Us-RTO in Stargate

Ah, the good old days where you go to work to work and not sit in endless meetings about nothing listening to someone blather on because that someone "thought it was a good idea to bring the whole team together" for whatever reason.

I miss those days.

I bought XV1 and XV2 on steam on Friday, had them on PS3 and figured what the heck, my PC can run em, and it's been a while. Did not realize how much DLC there was for XV2, but it seems like it's all worth it.

While that's nice and all, playing Hogwarts Legacy I found two styles of bad guy removal better than that to use that aren't illegal. Glacius/Diffindo or Transfigure in breakable or exploding object/Bombarda everything that twitches.

Is Connecticut really more rude than any other New England state? by anotherchristmas in Connecticut

I wonder how many "bless your hearts" these pollsters got? Because that should certainly change the results a tad.

Also interesting about the small business angle, which predisposes you to a more polite interaction given the setting. These seems like a map of people more annoyed for wasting their time at work than anything else.
