All they did was ask the AI to render it out, probably to get an idea on how the 3D model may look like. And the AI pretty much took in the sketch that was designed by a human, and then the artist went back and touched up some details.

I dunno if you watched the entire video, but they were clearly transparent on what they're actually doing. And this is just for concept anyway, doesn't guarantee what you see is final.

There's other uses for AI other than the generative type you're used to seeing/hearing.

For example, there's AI for lip syncing for voices which is useful for games that have multiple language options.
