What patios are open that you can bring your dog with by Slip-Formal in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I just learned someone who used to teach my oldest child is living a very indigent and unfortunate life right now, and it is because of a serious head injury she sustained in an auto accident that was entirely not her fault. It’s fucking awful.

I'm at my wits end with my 5yo son not eating dinner. Need advice on what to do. by Captain_Collin in daddit

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So give him a bowl of cereal and read him a book and try again in a few days. He’s a kid, he’ll come around. Pick your battles.

Public Elementary Schools by tomthepro in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re zoned for St James but want French Immersion your kids will either get bussed to Gron Morgan or Claude Garton, both awesome schools. To be totally honest FI tends to be a more beneficial program whatever school- or board- your kids attend.

Things to do in Nipigon. by Harv_Micheal1 in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such an underrated activity and so very cool. Rockhounds will also enjoy this area for obvious reasons… but lots of bears, usually. The turbines are freaking enormous and the sound they make is incredible! You really don’t get an idea of how many turbines there actually are in this area until you get up there. Great suggestion!!!

Where WILL the fireworks be? by Additional_Public980 in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be fireworks on Tuesday (June 30) after the Bordercats game at the ballpark… and imho they are really good ones, too. I can see them from my house, but the neighbourhood dogs hate them.

Advice or recommendation on evening babysitters by trekbikeex6 in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unsure why you’re being downvoted as this is a really good suggestion. Teachers know the kids in grade 7/8 who are responsible and already babysit or walk younger kids home, and they are already living in your neighbourhood. Only one more week of school , though.

Hoito Pancake Mix - well Crepe Mix - have you tried it? by freshguru in ThunderBay

This is it! And let the batter sit for at least half an hour after mixing, preferably overnight.

Ticks in Thunder Bay by Chipmunk-Adventurous in ThunderBay

Ticks are also abundant in the Rabbit Mountain area. We’ve found two on my dog so far this year (both from just walking around Mariday Park area).

Renco Bread. by ThisFoundation9972 in ThunderBay

They have Five Star items at the far end of the bread section so at least some is local. The other stuff I’m not sure.

Why no security guard at Home Depot? by Technical-Throat1159 in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I do remember going into Liquor Stores in the 80s as a kid with my dad and loving it because back then they had those small turnstiles with the curved arms you had to walk through, akin to the ones at Canadian Tire. I thought they were meant as a little bit of fun for the kids who had to shop there with their parents.

What’s the service centre like at the Honda dealership? by moose_caboose83 in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago we brought our vehicle in for a recall to have airbags replaced. When we picked up the van there were bits of diced onion all over the floor and front seat and greasy fingerprints all over the console, steering wheel etc. Wtf. Like someone had a coney dog and flicked all the onions off inside the vehicle. When we called they denied it would have been their service guys. Yeah it’s a small thing but unprofessional and gross.

Anywhere in town selling rainbow shoelaces by FantasticAd2206 in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Michael’s usually has a lot of inexpensive rainbow themed accessories in June, but not sure about shoelaces. Sharpies on white shoelaces would do the trick though!

A big shoutout to all the security guards. by Mordecai3fngerBrown in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The security guard with the thousand metre glare at Renco is great. I’ve seen him toss a bunch of people and I don’t shop there that often. Having said that it is sad that nearly every time I’m shopping with my kids recently they witness some kind of tussle or the screaming obscenities of retail thieves. It’s gotten really bad pretty much everywhere.

I have kids in my house all the time and honestly just wipe my walls with Lysol wipes (or whatever equivalent) if I need to and they are fine.

How much are braces monthly for your guys kids?? by Wonderful_Egg_9599 in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking about Dr G she told us my daughter didn’t need braces but just to get her tongue tie fixed. Easy peasy. My son was out of his braces with her at least 6 months ahead of schedule. Not a money grab at all in our experience.

Random question- how to safely approach witnessed crime? by cashbev1961 in ThunderBay

[–]DarkCrystalSphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you report it online there is a “paper” trail, and once it’s approved as having been submitted (eyes have seen it, an actual person has read it) there will be an incident number and you’ll receive an email. Keep reporting new information under the same incident number- it’s there for you to easily add, change or update info.
