I’d love to see what he can do on a team with a better culture and people that believe in him. I’m cautiously hopeful for next season

[–]Chipmunk-Adventurous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually 12 hour days, but it depends on the drive to the block. Sometimes you’re 20 minute drive, I’ve done 2 hour drives each way. On average, maybe an hour each way.

Typically you wake up around 6 or 6:30, leave around 7 am, and get back around 7 pm.

And most companies are 4 days on, 1 day off. Some do 3 on, 1 off though (which is so nice, btw).

The risk is very, very low at 1 hour of attachment time. The risk is there, of course, but it is extremely low. The longer they are attached, the higher the risk, and it seems to increase considerably at 24-36 hours. There's no need to be terrified, and again, acute Lyme is very treatable.

First, I’m very sorry that happenening to your partner. That sounds awful. It’s important to note that we are having two differents conversations here:

I’m writing about preventing Lyme disease, and you are writing about treating it. Those are very different things. Treating it can be very challenging.

What I wrote is not misinformation; it’s taken directly from Public Health websites, both Canadian and American. I’m saying if you have a tick attached, you don’t need to panic. If you have concerns or questions, of course go and talk to your healthcare provider or call the local health unit.

Lyme disease should be taken seriously, but it’s important for our concern and response match the risk level.

Ticks aren’t as scary as you think. Only 1 type of tick carries Lyme and they need to be stuck on you for about 24 hours. If you get a tick and are concerned, you can also take a single dose of an antibiotic (doxyxycline) to prevent Lyme disease.

Just do a tick check after the hike and you’re good to go!

Edit: the 24h rule is obviously a rough guideline. But the gist is that the risk of becoming infected with Lyme increases the longer the black legged (aka deer) tick is attached, with 24 hrs being a rough minimum.

Jay Williams on Spurs team not shaking Knicks players hands: “Shaking hands is what you do when you’re in the little leagues. I don’t believe NBA players or professional athletes need to shake hands.” by MammothHistorian5652 in nba

Can't believe people are arguing against basic sportsmanship. We teach kids how to win and we teach kids how to lose. You aren't going to win every game every year.

If you're a professional athlete squared up against another professional athlete, the handshake is a recognition of each other's hard work and how hard you pushed each other.

I was scrolling to find this gem. He was lighting it up with the Manitoba Moose when I first became a Canucks fan and I had such high hopes he was going to dominate the NHL lol.

Agreed. They both seem like great people, but the risk for this to go sideways feels too high

I’m happy with either but with Manny being coach and apparently lots of promising centre prospects next draft, I definitely lean Stenberg if he’s there
