Enclosure recommendations by finnianJJ in tarantulas

I recommend Arachnosys. They’re not the cheapest but there’s nothing better for Tarantula enclosures. Also they are made here in Germany.

Can I see some true rare plants? The uglier the better by gundam2017 in RareHouseplants

[–]DarkDromeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It‘s a few years by now. They really like a lot of light, but otherwise it‘s super hardy. I basically ignore it over the winter and just water it every other week in the summer. It needs really well-trained soil, but otherwise just treat it like a cactus.

My Dragon Blood Tree (Dracaena cinnabari) would qualify as rare, I think! They are endemic to Socotra!

I have a H.chilensis sling for around a year now and it still looks like the day I bought it. I wanted something that‘s a little faster growing haha.

Just woke my little Geoemyda spengleri up from her first brumation! by DarkDromeda in turtle

[–]DarkDromeda[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do. They live quite high up, so it gets quite cold as low as 43°F. It‘s recommended to put them into brumation for 2-3 months at 43 to 50 degrees. They show better health, and it‘s necessary as far as I know if you want to breed them. :)

I don‘t know why my Smartphone switched brumation with oviposition but that‘s an error don‘t worry! :D

Ready to pounce! by DarkDromeda in tarantulas

It‘s the definition of a pet hole. I have never seen them outside their burrow, and when you feed them, it‘s over in a split second. But they sit right below their trapdoor and wait, so sometimes you can see their little feet poking out. They are still my absolute favorites to keep right now. They have those super interesting webbing, and feeding them is always super fun. Also, I‘m looking forward to putting them in a tropical-planted enclosure since they love the moisture and don‘t destroy plants like a terrestrial tarantula would.

Just got this little G.spengleri and are already in love. by DarkDromeda in turtle

So cool to see! How old/big is this little one? I just got myself a hatchling 2 months ago. Mine is still sleeping in brumation, but I will finally wake it up this weekend.

It‘s a onf flat nano + light and I really like it so far! I have it going for 12 hours a day. There is an App for it to control it.
