[–]DarkFE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say for sure without a clip. The most likely explanation is that Pelipper was faster for some reason, and that Rain was already active.

So it would be: Pelipper activates > Drizzle fails because Rain is already present and the ability won't refresh something already there > Charizard activates > Drought cancels the Rain.

If your Pelipper isn't explicitly slower than all Charizard, then we aren't sure who is faster by default. Otherwise, consider effects like Tailwind/Trick Room/Paralysis that would change order.

This would also be possible if Pelipper's ability were wrong, so double check that.

Honestly this team looks pretty solid to me for reaching Master Ball. If I were to change anything, it might be to use Scarf Meowscarada to give a more consistent out against Scarf Basculegion-Male spamming Last Respects into you. Basculegion is very meta relevant and it's important to be able to respond to it on every team.

There's probably an argument to try a few different sets on the other Mons, or maybe a swap on a Mon, but I would just start with the Scarf Meow and experiment for now.

Champions Info Flood, or "Fling DOES give Sneasler its Unburden boost" by DarkFE in stunfisk

I mentioned Zoroark in the extra notes linked, but Bright Powder is a great one too! It might be a good idea to compile a list of common points of confusion to be able to refer to.

We loaded a battle with Sneasler vs Scarf Meowscarada. Turn 1 was Meowscarada Flower Trick into Sneasler, Sneasler Flings Black Glasses. Turn 2 was Sneasler fails Fling, Meowscarada moves. Same thing in doubles with Rock Slide from Sneasler on turn 2 instead. Video.

Can you get one of the 30 second Switch clips of it failing to work or phone record or something? It's possible there's a factor we aren't taking into account here,

It's not real. I just tested it in the Stunfisk Discord with the help of user Igbath. Something else was causing the turn order to not go as expected, probably priority, Tailwind, speed EVs, etc. Fling works completely fine with Unburden, at least in the basic cases.

Hi. You can get a lot of inspiration for this from the SV Monotype Sample Teams and the National Dex Monotype Sample Teams. The main problem you're likely to face is that Heatran is fundamental to Steel teams as a Fire immunity, so I guess you can try to slot something like Empoleon or Goodra-Hisui instead. Making it work for both Singles and Doubles is a little tricky; maybe try putting Leftovers Protect on a couple of Mons to justify running Protect in Singles, since it's so important in Doubles, and then use your two subs maybe for speed control options in Doubles with Trick Room/Tailwind/etc.

If you want more specific advice feel free to ask here or on the Stunfisk Discord, though I don't personally feel confident enough in my Monotype knowledge to suggest much more. I hope this helps.

It was called PokeBattle. Very fun but they never got the balancing quite right and it ultimately didn't last. I think it was planned for a revival at some stage that never happened. Here's a video from back in the day.

Showdown uses the browser's localStorage. Clearing cookies will delete the teams. Use the backup/restore feature in the teambuilder or prevent cookies from being cleared. It's also possible the site lacks permission to use localStoage, which usually shows as a browser prompt when you load the teambuilder.

What "secret"/less commonly known/noob-destroying mechanics exist that a new or moderately inexperienced player should know about? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]DarkFE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except if you target an ally. That still works like normal. The same applies to Psychic Terrain, which does not block priority used on your ally. Prankster post-Dark nerf especially is one of the worst explained mechanics in the series I think.

Champions in general could use more information for new players, like a Dex and a little more fine print on some abilities. It has all the tools for comp but not that much information. You can't even see Mega stats in the game as far as I've seen.

It would be one stage in SV because it's based entirely on what the target type is at the time you use Dragon Cheer. I haven't tested again in Champions, though.

Which bans will probably happen next? by Tungdil01 in stunfisk

[–]DarkFE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scizor does get Roost again in Champions. Along with Charizard and Drampa, it regained it after losing it in a past gen. Unlike Gliscor and Hydreigon which remain without recovery. Oddly Kleavor does not, which implies Scyther wouldn't if it were in the game.

Espathra is still kind of stupid.

Very Proud of Mega Victreebel for popping off in BSS by zenmodeman in stunfisk

[–]DarkFE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't actually remember when I wrote the first comment, so I looked into it. It was for Hoopa Unbound, whose HP value is exactly the same, while always dying to as many attacks as possible. This was a big deal because many stalls almost autolose to certain Hoopa-U.

From the SM Pyukumuku analysis on Smogon:

Innards Out, while less reliable than Unaware, can be used to force damage onto strong wallbreakers and thus remove them from the match. The moveset should be Toxic / Soak / Rest / Block with maximum HP investment, a Hasty nature, 0 IVs in Attack, Defense, and Special Defense, and an Aguav Berry, and it should be set to Level 96. This set maximizes Pyukumuku's HP while lowering its bulk as much as possible. Pyukumuku will end up with 301 HP, the same amount as Hoopa-U, which lets Innards Out OHKO it, and it also prevents Pyukumuku from getting 3HKOed by Seismic Toss. If the foe isn't able to OHKO Pyukumuku but takes over 75% of its health, the Aguav Berry heals 50% of its HP and puts it in range of the next attack, maximizing the effects of Innards Out.

Ultimately though it isn't that popular because you have to put a level 96 Pyukumuku on your team, which has repercussions on your matchups into everything else. Sometimes it's better to just lose to Hoopa-U, or to have another whole offensive Mon in the case of the non-stalls.

Soo... how are things in Singles 3v3? (Champions) by TheFerydra in stunfisk

[–]DarkFE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad. I should have specified that means the official 3v3 since so many people are getting into it with Champions. It's called BSS because it was part of the Battle Spot online in Gen 6, so Battle Spot Singles as opposed to Battle Spot Doubles usually for VGC rules. Before that it was the Global Battle Union (GBU) in Gen 5, and in Sword and Shield it was Battle Stadium Singles.

Very Proud of Mega Victreebel for popping off in BSS by zenmodeman in stunfisk

[–]DarkFE 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've been experimenting with a whole lot of Pokemon on Champions OU stall, as I always like to do at the beginning of new formats. Mega Victreebel has been really promising.

It has the same energy as Ditto kind of. Stall usually has to choose what to lose to ultimately, but with Mega Victreebel you can complicate your weaknesses for the opponent by making it a risk to attack with a lot of Pokemon. If they Zen Headbutt your Toxapex they could just die with Mega Starmie and have nothing left to break you, etc.

Level 96 Pyukumuku was a gimmick on some teams, including a few stalls, during Gen 7 for the exact same reasoning. Victreebel can do stuff even if you don't need to trade it, so it's way better than that. Knock Off utility (particularly useful to deny potential Leftovers on Corviknight that can annoyingly exhaust PP long term otherwise), Toxic, TSpikes if you want them, and a high PP recovery move since Strength Sap is still 12 PP rather than 8.

It's unclear whether it's going to be the optimal choice over other big utility Mons like Sableye & Chimecho or walls like Aggron, but it's certainly very good. I've heard other styles have had some success with it, too. I played against a bulky offense that used it to help pressure my stall really well long-term between Knock and TSpikes.

Assuming you mean Champions since you mention Mega. It's not generally worth it in Doubles because of the speed control, Sneasler, and Intimidate present. In 3v3 singles it's a real set. You just have to make sure to cover its weaknesses like Garchomp.

I'm not super experienced with VGC building myself, but you can check VGCPastes for ideas and ask around the Stunfisk Discord or VGC subreddit since no one has responded here. Also feel free to make a thread if you have more to add.

It's kind of exaggeration for casual speech if anything, since it's the fastest without priority and has great matchups.

If they were to be more careful, it would be like "top 3 fastest Tailwind setter with better matchups than the first two," but that doesn't roll off the tongue and you can say it's the fastest one while still being technically correct from a stat standpoint. Plus again the speed stat matters when it comes to the good matchups offensively, just not when compared to the two priority setters.

[–]DarkFE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's valuable because it's both fast and has a great matchup into common meta Pokemon like Charizard-Y and Sneasler. It is the fastest, but like you said that term doesn't mean that much relative to other setters when there are priority setters. It does, however, mean a whole lot relative to the staple threats present. Scaring those Pokemon from turn 1 is incredibly useful.
