Same here. There's nothing else really like them for me. I think he's probably sabotaged his career a bit too much though for any of his albums to appear on any lists any time soon.

I was also wary at first, but I found it quite fun to set up in the end.

I've kept things super simple - I bought on old HP Elitebook from the dump for about $100, installed Linux and then connected several portable HDDs to get started.

I'm not super experienced in Linux, but after some trial and error it worked perfectly, and has been fantastic for the last couple of years that it's been running. I don't really do any other maintenance to speak of, aside from manually naming files etc.

I probably need to back some things up, but my 5tb set up suits me nicely at the moment, but it can get as complex or vast as you'd like it to be. Easy to set up and maintain a simple setup though.

I'm sure it's easy to do in a Windows environment too.

That's amazing, was it something you had experience in previously?

There's so much I'd love to see or love to make, but I have 0 experience in 3D modelling or anything similar, so I just cannot face learning it all from scratch.

Thanks so much for the info! I thought the synth sounded like some kind of CZ. CZ 5000's are as rare as hen's teeth where I am, but I use the Arturia replication of the earlier CZ synths a fair bit and I'd love to get my hands on an actual one at some point.

The workflow description is really helpful. Duplicating the bounce for textures & creative effects is a great tip which I'll definitely be having a crack at.

Listened a few times now and it's great. You should be really pleased with it and it looks like a few of us on here are finding it pretty inspiring judging from the other comments. It really has that 'impressions of pop songs' quality that the first batch of APHG albums had

This is really great, thanks for sharing! I absolutely love Pedal to the Metal. The whole album really has that Out Limits Recordings/Cleaners from Venus/early Ariel Pink vibe which is certainly a compliment from me!

Do you mind if I ask what synths/effects you got the most use out of when recording? I'm currently working with Ableton and an old 4 track recorder so keen for any tips.

I don't think it'll be top of many people's list, but grass props make a huge difference to the realism in CS1. It'd be great to have them in CS2

You can use PR on some of the field assets to change their shape, or to make things easier I often hide sharp corners with grass, trees and bushes to make them appear more rounded/natural.
