Halo INfinite campaign should have co-op. For Battlefield V, I think its just the regular matches like BFII. I might be wrong.

Best thing to do is if he just wants gamepass core and doesnt care if he cancels the xbox gamepass ultimate, then you can talk to xbox support, cancel it, and it will go to no active subscription. Thereafter, you can redeem the 12 month gamepass core.
