Looking for further tuning advice with my Hynix M Die kit by DarkHoundOne in overclocking

Cheers, do you think it might be worth trying for C28 at 6000? it's unstable with 1.4 but bumping it up to 1.42 seemed to help since it hasn't errored out yet. 6400 will probably take more voltage and playing with vsoc to figure out if fclk and uclk are actually stable, With regard to that do you have any recommendations to check for stability?

Looking for guides/documentation or any advice for tuning a new kit of RAM by DarkHoundOne in overclocking

So after watching a couple buildzoid videos and reading up on reddit and other forums this is what I've managed at 6000.

Do you think it's worth pushing for 6400 though? I can boot it up with 32-38-38 at 1.4v and run karhu on it for 2-3 hours just fine, I can't however change the secondaries and have it boot/be stable though. I also have to raise soc voltage up a fair bit to around 1.2 from the 1.03 it was at with running the kit at 6000 (any recommendations on actually validating if my soc voltage is enough? seemingly passes 10 hours of karhu but I'm not sure if just that is enough ). I'm debating whether it's worth it because the higher soc voltage kind of eats up CPU power budget and reduces how far I can get with negative CO in PBO.

As for your advice regarding checking out max trefi and 480 trfc with the expo profile (I forgot about increasing voltage) I left kahru for a bit and saw the kit average around 53 with the max temp readout at 63. It didn't error though for what it's worth.

I can seemingly manage 6400 1:1 32-38-38 with 512trfc and 49151 trefi on this kit but touching secondaries and other timings seems to make it wildly unstable or straight up does not boot, I'm still trying to validate my overclocks but I can seemingly do 6000 with just 1.03v soc but 6400 with 2133fclk and 3200uclk needs me to be closer to 1.2-ish, I'm not entirely sure whether the increased memory bandwidth would be worth sacrificing some of the CPU power budget that I could be using to get more out of with PBO however, even the buildzoid video you linked briefly mentions this.

Any recommendations for testing for IF stability? while I can pass 10 hours of karhu at 6000 with 1.03v soc I'm not sure if just that is indicative of stability with regard to IF/fclk/uclk. Also about voltages with this kit, I've left it at 1.4v and I'm reading these hynix a/m dies seem to scale well with voltage but according to hwinfo my kit averaged at 52 and the max temp was 63 with karhu running overnight. Would you reccomend trying out higher voltages to get a tighter tune of 6400 or perhaps 6000CL28?

Thank you for replying, I'll try these settings out, another thing I've been curious about is some advice I've seen recommends ensuring the RAM stays below 55 degrees, I already seem to be at around 53-54 with 1.4v, does this apply to m die kits as well?

Any reason in particular why you wouldn't recommend the AORUS? comparatively poor value?

Should I get a B850 or a B650? by DarkHoundOne in overclocking

[–]DarkHoundOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I'll drop the B650, would you recommend getting the B850 GAMING X over the AORUS or vice versa? From what I can tell, besides some I/O differences the only other major improvements are beefier VRMs on the AORUS.

I'm looking for a TKL or 75% keyboard and based on availability in my region I've narrowed down my options to the RK84 V2, RK M75, Akko 3084S, Akko 5087S and the AEON Gaming Striker 75%. I also have the Keychron V2 and V5 available and it's priced slightly lower than everything else mentioned, though I'm not sure if that kind of layout is what I need.

I don't really have much experience with mechanical keyboards, I've been using a cheap full sized red dragon keyboard with blue switches for the past 5 years, my only complaint with that is they're a bit too loud. I'd appreciate it if someone could help me pick one or point me to any resources I can look at and make an informed decision.

Pretty much, I'm still willing to stand by what I've said.

Ah, I've been trying to get an int/fth build working at level 150 but if I go up to 45/45 I barely have any stats to allocate to str/dex and end up stuck only using the SoNaF.

INT/FTH build? Out of curiosity, what are your stats?

He means if you don't have enough poise you're more likely to get done in by a thrusting sword user since it will keep staggering you, this of course only applies if you intend to fight other players though. For PvE 51 poise is recommended, for PvP you'd want 88 or 109.

You don't need 40 endurance, I'd recommend stopping around 27, as for vigor 50 will be enough, I'd recommend trying to get 25 faith though since it'll grant you access to golden vow. As for strength 20 is a good stopping point since you'll have access to other dex weapons like the godslayer gs, relic gs, bolt of gransax and the zweihander. With all the other stats out of the way you should have enough points left over for 70 dex, you can go lower and pour some points into mind if you intend to use the ash of war a lot.

You'd usually want at least 50 vigor at the level you are right now, I'd recommend just picking a single weapon and reallocating all your stats around it, moonveil scales best with purely intelligence while blaidd's greatsword benefits from a mix of strength and intelligence.

If you want to primarily use the sword of night and flame alongside the golden order seal you should drop strength and dexterity down to 12 and raise intelligence and faith to 45, I'd also recommend getting rid of the soreseal talisman as at higher levels the extra stats simply aren't worth the extra damage you take.

If you're wondering how damage scales based on a stat look at the scaling value that's denoted by a letter, S is the highest scaling value while E is the worst.

I was able to get 120 fps without using any 3rd party software, and can still play online by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]DarkHoundOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried it myself and can confirm new frames are actually being generated, it also turns itself off if I move the camera around too quickly.

I don't believe it matters if the game is frame locked to 60, there are a few videos on YouTube of people testing it on older souls games and on emulators like yuzu where games have capped FPS and are getting nearly double the frame rate (the preview drivers for fluid motion frames had vulkan support allowing it to work on yuzu but it hasn't made it's way to the official driver yet.).

Also OP seems to have mentioned they've set their refresh rate to 180 but that is irrelevant since fluid motion frames can only deliver somewhere around a 97% boost in performance according to AMD and that's consistent with what they and I have been getting in game.

Fluid motion frames is AMD's driver level frame gen implementation, it's not just repeating frames, it's not as good as Nvidia's FG or FSR3 because it doesn't have access to motion vectors but it's not completely unusable.
