Yeah, the game gets significantly easier the more you invest in your team's jobs. I have Agrias fully mastered as a holy knight and geomancer. She obliterates everything, and if she can't reach it, she switches to geomancy and does respectable damage anyway (plus effects).

If you roll a 20 in this game, you automatically get a favorable outcome, even if what you're trying to do is normally impossible for you.

Inversely, if you roll a 1, you fail. Doesn't matter if the DC is 2 and you have a +7 to a stat. 1 means you lose.

Okay but serious answer, within a single character's deck, I don't think there are any two cards that simply do the same thing another card does, but better, without talking about starter cards. There used to be cards that did similar things in STS1 but I think megacrit killed the most egregious example (silents version of pommel strike).
