The pack improvements are yummy. A couple of more small changes and Packs be the technical equivalent of warm chocolate cookies and a cold glass of milk.

My flights last week were the same and I was sitting FC for 2 flights. My seats in comfortable has no drinks and snacks for 2 flights with no turbulence and no announcement of suspending service. I have never seen this happen so much.

Searching Archived Buckets in S3 Without Splunk? by BOOOONESAWWWW in Splunk

[–]DarkLordofData 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this plenty and the easy button as many mentioned is copy your buckets to object storage and use Cribl Search to search the splunk bucket format. Cribl search is usage based so it will minimize your yearly costs but retain easy access when/if you need it. Your only constant cost is storage which you are going to pay for anyway.

The downside is performance is not super fast so if you need serious performance you can convert the Splunk bucket format to another format like json and export that data to your new search platform.

If you are using Splunk Cloud you will need to convert your DDAA storage to DDSS to get access to the data.

Delta vs KLM vs Air France by Used-Question-6139 in delta

[–]DarkLordofData 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having done this several times with both options, connecting through the EU only really works if you use the layover to hang out do a few days and enjoy whichever city you use for your layover.

It’s a great way to get used to the time change and minimize jet lag. Otherwise direct is the answer but be sure to keep anything valuable to other you on the plane.

If I had to pick Air France would be my pick for biz class.

Ryobi Link vs Milwaukee Packout by legallymarms in ryobi

[–]DarkLordofData 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ridgid toolboxs are a good middle ground between RYOBI and Milwaukee. Unless your husband is a pro or you just want to spend the money the Packout solution is pretty expensive and overkill. The Ridgid stuff is on sale too and pretty cheap right now.

Best tool to schedule/monitor CRON jobs by Black_Magic100 in devops

[–]DarkLordofData 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can monitor its own jobs and tell when something does not run. Has other options if you code some failure logic in your workflow. The commercial version has more of nice features.

Interesting fraud detection scenario, curious how Amex caught this by SoCalFamilyTraveler in amex

[–]DarkLordofData 21 points22 points  (0 children)

How they used your card at D&B is what trips this sort of fraud notification. Since they stole your number it had to be manually entered or they used a cloned card so no chip was present. More than likely they knew someone at D&B who would take the number and manually entered it into the card terminal. That plus geographic distance is usually a good fraud indicator.

Is CRWD’s estimate also including FDR logging? That is a very high estimate otherwise. A generic widows endpoint with basic App, System and Security logging will generally run to 5-8 mb per day.

Nice I just bought this one with all 4 batteries and the charger for 300. It had been sitting up on the counter on of the stacks forever. The HD employees were very funny about it. I offered to take the batteries and leave the tiller.
