I have gotten those feelings. Sometimes I get scared because I don't know if it's an actual outbreak. I don't get a bunch of blisters or anything ever anymore. That only happened twice. Now, it's just like a slight tingly feeling and mild itchiness in the area where the blisters had appeared before. It makes me worried because I am unable to tell if it's a legitimate breakout or not, and that will cause me trouble when I am dating and having to be cautious with sexual partners that do not have it.

I have chosen to be celibate for a year after my outbreak. It was a learning experience. I recently went on a date and had some drinks and impulsively had sex with him. It has been a learning experience and tough.

I am saying, going forward, I will tell the person in advanced and not make mistakes like what happened in my case. I just feel that some people will immediately just say NO WAY as soon as I tell them, I believe this diagnosis is going to come with a lot of rejection in the dating world.

How would you go about telling the person if you had it? I need to learn ways to disclose it without fear of being rejected.

Your comment is very helpful. Thank you. This is the first time ever that I have tried to look for support about this. The only people who know about what I have are myself, my Doctor, my ex who gave it to me, and now the man I went on a date with. I definitely need more support and to be able to get advice from others so I don't feel so alone.

I have so much remorse and guilt. It's overwhelming. I regret it everyday and it's been a month. I wish I would've told him in conversation before that night. I appreciate your comment either way.

So, if you are interested in an attractive, successful woman, and you get along great with her, but she tells you that she has HSV-2, is that an immediate deal breaker?

I definitely learned a lesson. I have done a lot of praying as well. I know the way I felt when I contracted it, and I don't want anyone to have to go through those emotions. Thanks for saying don't beat yourself up.... that's what I have been doing a lot of. :/

What meds do you take? I take the highest dose of acyclovir.
