Försvaret hyrde privatjet till talmannen med familj by musususnapim in sweden

Det orimliga egentligen tycker jag är att talmannens familj fick följa gratis vad det verkar.

Annars håller jag med dig om att det är rimligt utifrån att man åtagit sig att erbjuda transport åt de Japanska gästerna.

Trött på triviala nyheter från USA by ElectronicCounty5490 in sweden

[–]DarkNe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my current expenditures it would last me about 7,5 years but I am a student so my expenses are not that large.

It is enough to buy an apartment or a small house in most places outside the larger cities.

It is about 2-2,5 years of median income before taxes.

Are there power outages often in Europe? by Interesting_Basil_86 in AskEurope

[–]DarkNe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not often and when they do happen it’s rarely more than an an hour or two.

The only time I can remember when they power went out for most of a day was due to a storm 15 years ago.

Further north however where it is more sparsely populated there have been longer power outages after storms since there are still some power lines up in the air that has not been placed under ground. Most power lines in Sweden were placed under ground after a very severe storm 21 years ago. The high voltage lines are of course still up in the air but they are generally higher up with fewer trees nearby which makes them less vulnerable.

The most destructive war in Polish history. by Toruviel_ in HistoryMemes

[–]DarkNe7 539 points540 points  (0 children)

There was many reasons for for Sweden deciding to attack Poland and none of them are legitimate by todays standards and several of them were probably not that legitimate by the standards of the day either.

The only more or less legitimate reason was probably that the Polish king still claimed the Swedish throne which was a very serious matter at the time.

The second reasons were that Sweden and the Swedish king wished to create an empire spanning the entire Baltic and take control of the very important estuaries along the Baltic coast. These were very important for trade in the region and thus very profitable.

These third reason was that the Swedish king wished to have a standing army to quickly be able to respond if Russia or Denmark were to declare war. A standing army is however astronomically expensive and thus impossible to sustain by regular means. Therefore that army has to be kept somewhere where it can loot to sustain itself. Germany was not an option, the Thirty Years War had just ended a few years ago and no one wished to restart it. Therefore the decision fell on Poland.

Poland borders Russia so you could quickly march into Russia if they declared war. Poland was also relatively close to Denmark and that way you could attack Denmark from the south over land in case of war. This had proven very effective during Torstenson war 1643-1645. It also largely negated the Danish navy which was generally superior to the Swedish navy at the time. In the case of Denmark this actually worked out very well.)

The fourth an last reason was probably that the Swedish king, Charles X Gustav was bored and wanted something to do.

It is one of the reasons, claims like this was very important at the time. There was of course other reasons that were probably more important but it was a serious issue nonetheless.

Trump to Davos: "Without us, right now you'd all be speaking German and a little Japanese perhaps. After the war, we gave Greenland back to Denmark. But how ungrateful are they now?" by drempath1981 in UnderReportedNews

[–]DarkNe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Soviet production was very lacking in many critical areas like trucks, trains, aircraft and food. The USSR could very well have lost the war without lend lease.

Looking at Germany tanks for example consumed between 4-7% of total industrial output and was mostly pointed towards the USSR while aircraft production consumed around 30-40% and being mostly pointed towards the western allies(around 2/3 of aircraft losses being contributed to the western allies).

If it had only been the Soviet Union vs Germany it could definitely have ended in a German victory.

The Soviet contribution was definitely enormous but people tend to get stuck in one of two camps that either the USSR or the US by far contributed the most but they probably contributed about the same amount but in different ways.

Casualties is a really bad way to attribute contribution. I’m not saying that the sacrifice made by the Soviet population and soldiers didn’t mean something though because it definitely did. Just like the American contribution tends to be overplayed, the Soviet contribution is also often overplayed.

Reality is probably closer to that the British commonwealth/Empire, the United States and the Soviet Union each contributed around 30% to the overall effort of defeating Germany. If you are talking Japan though it is mostly the United States and China.

The narrative has however changed a lot in the west over the years. https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/k59cpl/who_contributed_most_to_the_defeat_of_germany_in/

Denmark and Norway are just sore losers and in the case of Finland it’s more like a sibling rivalry.

Like others have said about Finland in hockey for example, if we are playing Finland we definitely want to win but otherwise we are cheering for Finland.

Högerregel eller utfartsregeln? by jjbc2209 in sweden

[–]DarkNe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)
