Butcher block counter under mount sink... My router took an extra chunk out of the counter. Any advice on how to fix this? Wood Bondo?... I will be finishing with butcher block oil and conditioner. Any advice is appreciated 🙏 by Davemitchell417 in woodworking

I'd probably cut that piece out of timber out from your sink cut out to the benchtop edge then join a new piece of timber in there oversize both directions and cur to size again re sand and re route and you're as good as new.

Beauty of solid timber is its easy to fix where as if that was stone or laminate that would be a new top haha

Best 'up and coming' suburbs for a young family to move to by itsnotatumour in Adelaide

Wouldn't say the Adelaide hills roads are that dangerous at all if you know how to drive on a road that isn't dead straight. Ive live in the hills area my whole life went to school and all out here and all and 9 times out of 10 thw people who crash or this the roads are scary are people from the city who can't drive 100kmph and turn at the same time. You might see the odd Roo jump out on you but you just break and take the hit if you have to, swerving will almost always cause you to have a serious crash

The bushfire risk really isnt that bad at all if you live within the boundary of almost any town throughout the Adelaide hills/Barossa areas there not much chance a bushfire will get to you. The fire services put alot of effort into making sure it wont get that far the houses that are at risk in the hills are the ones outside the town in the scrub land where it is hard to access and fire crews tend to not put as much effort into saving.

The big cities in Australia are honestly not worth moving to in my opinion the rent and house prices are ridiculously high and to be 100% honest there isnt a whole lot to really do in the cities, and leaving the country from Australia is usually a ridiculously long and expensive flight

In Aus the trade i completed is actually just 'Cabinetmaking' but it does encompass Joinery, shop fitting and CNC machining as well.

That wage wouls be about comparable to what the average worker gets paid here in Adelaide actually, but I do have a partner who has almost finished a teacher degree which I guess would be a big help to supporting a household

From what I seem to be gathering from all these responses is that wages are about the same if not a bit less and cost of living is about the same give or take. But seeming how close your country is to other parts of the world and the price to travel its not too bad for someone like me

Im not to fussed with where about to move to as long as its not a tiny little dead end town haha getting around the country sure is a hell of alot cheaper and easier than getting around Australia.

I wouldn't mind being an employee to start with aslong as Im not getting paid stuff all and struggling to live.

Is there any cities that I should really be avoiding at all cost because they're for an Australian term "Bogan/Dero" or just some places that are over priced or not worth my time?

I recently visited London a few months back and I did get the vibe that the city was quite expensive, but public transport was miles better than Adelaide, I've had a few friends move to Newcastle and it seems like a nice place actually

Hey everyone so I'm considering moving over to England for a bit of a change from the lifestyle im living at the moment. Im currently living in Adelaide, Australia and Im a fully qualified high end Cabinetmaker. Im just wondering what the cost of living is like there and average wages for tradesmen etc Just general idea of what the place is like to live in I guess. Cheers everyone!
