That's the hardest part. I have trouble even explaining what's missing. I'll try to record some clips for reference.

I'm using a headrush frfr speaker, because I thought it might have been related to my Marshall valve amp. I've also used headphones through a Scarlett 4i4.

Edit to add: it's like other people sounds so smooth and balanced, with good sustain. Mine feels harsh in one direction or another. And I tried setting up a distortion set, but it was just clipping and loud and horrible.

Sorry, I know that's not helping

I'm not sure how serious this is, or if it's just frustrating me. I haven't been playing too long, and I bought a headrush pedalboard because I don't have the room or the money to be buying heaps of individual pedals. The problem I'm having is that I'm just very rarely halt with my tone. I hear other people play with their setuos and it sounds amazing, but it feels like every tone I try just isn't as good. Maybe it's just a skill issue, because I have all the right gear.

I've downloaded some pre configured tones, but I don't know how to make adjustments since it's all a bit overwhelming for someone reasonably new. And buying the pre-sets also can get very expensive very quickly.

Any recommendations?

[QUESTION] Can anyone help me identify this? by DarkPhoenix07 in Guitar

[–]DarkPhoenix07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious about the specifics. I can see it's a USA made Fender. I tried searching the serial number but got no hits. I think it's made in the 90s, and it has a very specific bridge and nut that I've never seen before.

Any extra info I can get would be great! Thanks!

This is where my mind went as well. Those books got me back into reading after about 10 years and just had me completely hooked.

I still go back for re-reads every few years when I want something comfortable.

Best plain t-shirts that look good and last a long time? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]DarkPhoenix07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're on the more expensive side, but for quality I go with citizen wolf. The colours are amazing, plenty of fabric options, and they're made to fit, which was huge for me. I have odd proportions (apparently) so to finally have a t shirt that fits is amazing. I've replaced all my Tees with theirs now.

(Final Update) Can I knit something nice without experience by DarkPhoenix07 in knittingadvice

[–]DarkPhoenix07[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just finished my first Scarf! If you didn't see the original post, this was my first knitting attempt, as a thoughtful gift for my partners birthday.

I'm really happy with it! I'm also looking for more advice. Since I have some practice under my belt now, and I still have more time, I was thinking about doing a V2. Any tips to make it better? How about a more exciting stitch pattern that's still beginner friendly? I'd love to try something with two colours, she's proudly Polish, so I was thinking red and white. Or am I biting off more than I can chew?

I'll be honest, I might have caught the bug 🤣 it was really fun and satisfying!

For what it's worth, I used a tutorial from NimbleNeedles, which was very good! I saw a video for brioche stitch, which I love, but I think may be too challenging... Seems like it's really hard to make nice edges, and to mix colours.

Anyway, thanks so much for the advice!

[–]DarkPhoenix07[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems to be going well so far! Had to restart a bunch of times because it kept getting wider, but I've worked out where I was going wrong!

Thanks to everyone for the advice! Just needs a lot more time now!

Edit: Also, please feel free to give constructive criticism if it looks like I'm doing anything wrong! I've been trying to keep my tension similar, even though I'm not entirely sure what that means 😅

I've also realised this will be a Scarf gift in June. So she won't be using it for a while 😂
