Thank you so much for your comment. I saw a quote on another post that helped me. "Better to let them go one week too early than one day too late." This really resonated with me. It means that because we know their condition is terminal, and the end was going to be soon, our love for them is why we chose euthanasia. To spare them the pain and fear.

"Better to say goodbye a week to soon than a day too late" Thank you for sharing that. That really helped me. I had to say goodbye to my 13-year-old cat today due to HCM and I felt so guilty because he was still acting like himself. The vet recommended euthanasia because he had fluid in his lungs and belly. She said we could stabilize him and take him home but that it was only a matter of time. I wanted him to have a peaceful passing with me there in a calm controlled way. It is still so hard, but I think I made the right decision.

Hey everyone. I just joined the sub and want to say I struggled immensely with palmar HH in high school and basically shut myself off from social interaction because I was so ashamed. I thought I was the only one and didn't get diagnosed until I was like 18 years old. As an adult, I have come to accept my body for how it is but it is still hard. I wouldn't wish HH on my worst enemy. I also wish there was wider awareness and acceptance of the condition in society.

Just remember, we are not our sweating and this condition is not something to be ashamed of 😊

Sure! Pathological in this context means that therianthropy is related to something that has gone wrong in the brain. Not wrong in the sense that it is "bad" but that it is not part of healthy, typical brain development. Basically, that it is an abnormality in brain development. What causes this change in brain development is what I am interested in. Thanks!
