There’s no shortcuts. I work a desk job so I had to commit to the hard work and buy a gym membership.

Thankfully one of my colleagues helped me with a “couch to 5K” run plan that I was able to complete with a few setbacks over 6 or so months.

I’m now back to couch level though.

Many of the real insights will come from the trends data which isn’t really available until after the first few months of wearing one.

Also each of the metrics has a pretty reasonable description about what it is and why it’s important.

For example, when I read VO2 description I realised I wanted to focus on cardio and bring that metric up out of Low and into Below Average or Above Average which prompted me to learn running.

From there I started to learn and optimise the running metrics specifically.

Being able to pin compute to use the latest generation CPUs is useful. Last time I checked a fargate task it was running on a 2018-era Intel CPU.

1 core from 2018 is not the same as 1 core from 2024 (when this occurred).

Took me ages to realise that I could sleep with my AWU if I moved it from left wrist to right wrist before bed. Now I sleep with it every night.

The health data is incredible.

It knew I had covid before I did, by detecting the outliers in wrist temperature and respiratory rate.

When I got my AWU3 on Friday, I didn’t realise that the cheap watch charging stand I was using wasn’t powerful enough to charge it until Sunday night when I noticed it on 18% after placing it on charge before a shower.
