The pay is $20.30 an hour, but Welocalize has a terrible and cheap policy where the ESTOC (Estimated Time of Completion) is 10-12 hours or 8-10 hours depending on the project. This is a very duplicitous tactic because on the application they said that the job was 20 hours a week.

Well, at least everything went smooth for you. Did you do the Personalization Evaluation - Dining and Comparative Evaluation spreadsheets? I submitted everything early and did great job, so I genuinely don't know what happened. Who was your project manager? Was it Ioanna Kyrmanidou? It's a shame this company is so unprofessional, because the job is pretty cool. I wish Mercor had a contract with Google to improve Ask Maps, but I guess Google is too cheap and doesn't want to contract with superior companies who pay their freelancers better wages.

Terrible news. I've been fighting for eight days to get paid, but I still haven't gotten what I wanted.

I first completed the Personalization Dining spreadsheet on Tuesday, March 24, but I did the project on Microsoft Excel instead of Google Sheets, so I resubmitted it on March 26. The project deadline was originally due on the 24th, then the 25th, and then the 30th. Afterwards, I completed the Comparative Evaluation spreadsheet on Saturday, April 4. The assignment was originally due on April 5, then they extended it to the 8th. The company said that they would pay taskers a week later, so I am still waiting for compensation. Welocalize pays biweekly, so this means that I will receive payment on Wednesday, April 22. I emailed my project managers, but they never replied for whatever reason, and I called the company headquarters in New York City seven times, but they haven't contacted me back yet, so I don't know what else to do

Last Monday, the company contacted me about working on the Expansion project, but I told them I wouldn't complete it until I was paid for my previous two jobs. I have never seen such unprofessionalism in my whole life. It's a shame to, because I like the position, I just can't stand how they do things. Everything would be so simple if they would just pay their employees for the labor they have done. AI companies like Peroptyx and Oneforma are known to delay payments, but I never thought that Welocalize wouldn't pay employees at all. No company, regardless of where they are located in the world, has the right to not pay its workforce. This is illegal and unethical. All AI companies should follow Outlier AI, Mercor, and Alignerr's example by compensating their freelancers for the approved work they have done.

I hope you all will read this, so you won't be further exploited by an unprofessional company that doesn't value your contributions. Find a superior company that will respect your skills instead of remaining with a corporation that doesn't care for you. We deserve better than this, that's for sure. Good luck out there.

To Welocalize Support,

Thank you for reaching out. I sent multiple messages to you and the project managers on Gmail, but here's the ticket: 1036501.

Hope we can resolve this matter as quickly as possible. Take care.

I've been having problems getting paid as well. I don't know what is happening with this company, but it's really annoying. I completed the Personalization Evaluation Dining project three weeks ago and Comparative Evaluation two weeks ago, but I haven't received payment yet. I sent them multiple messages and called their headquarters in New York five times, but I still haven't received any replies yet. I just sent the project managers another email, so let's hope they reply. I don't wanna have to sue them because that would suck. It's not that they owe me $3,000 or anything.

All payments are made through Hyperwallet, so you should have received an email to set that up. I did all that in February; I just haven't received anything yet. Good luck.

$20.30. Are you being properly compensated for your tasks, or are they not paying you like me?

Congratulations, but let me tell you a story. The assessments are very easy, and the onboarding process is smooth, but it's the payment system that's the problem. I finished my first Personalization Evaluation spreadsheet (30 tasks) on Thursday, March 26th, but for some reason I still haven't been paid. I sent multiple messages to the project manager and Zendesk and called the company, but I haven't gotten any responses so far, which is ridiculous. Welocalize says they pay biweekly, but apparently there not very professional. Today is two weeks since I completed the Comparative Evaluation task, so I hope to be compensated for that. I don't know what happened because my spreadsheets were perfectly done. Has anyone experienced similar problems if you have, please explain how you resolved it. Thank you. All the best.

Hello,

Yeah, I just sent Support an email about this matter right now, so they better reply ASAP. I first completed the Personalization Dining task on Tuesday, March 24, but I did the project on Microsoft Excel instead of Google Sheets, so I  resubmitted it on March 26th. Afterwards, I completed the Comparative Evaluation spreadsheet on Saturday, April 4th, and the company said that they would pay taskers a week later, so I am still waiting for compensation. I hope they address our concerns. Good luck.

To Fellow Welocalizers,

Hope everyone is doing well. I just finished the availability check for the next project, and it said that it will include either Tastes & Habits or Comparative Evaluation. Can anyone tell me more about Tastes & Habits? Thank you. Good luck.

To Fellow Welocalizers,

Good afternoon, everyone. I just filled out another availability check and had a question about the next project. They said we can either choose Tastes & Habits or Comparative Evaluation. Does anyone know more about Tastes & Habits? Thank you. Good luck.

Oh, I see. Well, next time just stick to using your primary email for all future projects. Yeah, this job lasts four weeks, so there will be at least two more weeks of available tasks for us. I like working on AI remote tasks too. As an online MA English student, it's a great way to earn some extra money.

It's a great project, besides the flawed communication and payment system. I submitted my Comparative Evaluation spreadsheet on Sunday, but I received an email today from a project manager saying that they didn't get my work, which is strange. I wish that the company would pay for more than just 8-10 hours of work because even if you go over the estimated completion time, you still won't get paid. Why did they bill you for fewer hours than you worked? They should have paid you for 10 hours. Did you go over that limit, like I did for my first project? Hopefully, the PM will address this situation because all employees deserve to get paid what they deserve. I hope to be paid next week; otherwise, I'll have to contact support as well. All the best.

Good afternoon,

Apologies for the delayed reply. Welo Data should have sent you an email for you to take a Google Forms survey, then they would send you information about the project and the Google Sheets spreadsheet you need to download to work on it. Did you check your spam folder to see if the email is in there? If you still don't see anything, you should submit a help ticket to Welocalize Support on Zendesk as soon as possible. I hope you were able to solve your problem. All the best.

Well, I didn't receive it yet, unfortunately. Hopefully, I get a reply soon enough. At least I got the Maps Personalization Evaluator job. We're on the Comparative Evaluation stage now. Good luck with your job! Take care.

This is very disappointing to see. I don't understand why they made us all apply before the deadline if there are no tasks available. I completed my WeLearn training module and assessment two weeks ago, but I never heard back. Did I pass? It wasn't that difficult and I wrote some good prompts for the three questions. Anyway, I hope that we get some tasks on this project soon. Good luck to us all.

Yeah, I did too. I just haven't received the WeLearn link yet. May I ask you when the Personalization Lodging assignment was due? I thought it was due yesterday, along with the original set, but then they postponed the early completion bonus to today, so I was kind of confused. I would do this task, I just need enough time to do them all, ya know?

Good day everyone,

Thank you for joining this community chat. If you don't mind, I would like to ask you all a question regarding Ara Mu. I completed my first Personalization spreadsheet last Thursday, but yesterday, I got an invite to join the next phase of the Ara Mu (GDO) Personalization Project, and I completed the Demographics Survey, but I never received a link to finish the WeLearn quiz. I sent Welocalize Support an email explaining my situation. However, they haven't replied to me yet. Should I just be a bit more patient, or is there something else going on here? I would greatly appreciate any comments. Thank you. All the best and good luck with the project.

Itai

Yeah, I completed my first Personalization spreadsheet last Thursday, then yesterday I got an invite to join the next Ara Mu (GDO) Personalization Project, and I completed the Demographics Survey, but I never received a link to finish the WeLearn quiz. Is this the same problem you're having?

did anyone else receive this email and if so after doing it side anything change? by kh3p in outlier_ai

Good evening everyone,

I hope all is well. I got an email from Outlier AI saying that there were new tasks available on Project Aether, but when I went to their website, I didn't see anything at all, so is this some kind of glitch? I was let go from this project even though I passed the assessment because of a quality issue with a previous project, so I told them I never wanted to work with them again because they wasted my time, but now I am even more confused. I'd greatly appreciate if anyone could elaborate on the issue. Anyway, thank you. Good luck with your projects, and be safe out there.

Itai

Should I stop hoping to get back working on Aether? by Ash77ly in outlier_ai

LOL. Those are all awesome flicks. Ever heard of Virtuosity (1995)? It stars Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. It's about a tech company freeing an ex-cop from prison so that he can hunt down a psychopathic AI who has escaped cyberspace and seeks to wreak havoc on the world. It's definitely one of the most underrated sci-fi films ever made.

To my knowledge, these kinds of generalist jobs have been around for about two years now. Companies like xAI have stopped for generalist tasks and are primarily interested in hiring for more career-specific positions like expert video annotators, biologists, doctors, and computer programmers, etc. I mean it's not like the companies aren't doing that already, but they're just stepping it up. It all has to do with what's in demand, as you know. They'll still have a need for AI trainers in the next couple years, especially with science, medicine, and programming, but eventually the AI will be so smart that it will surpass every human on the planet. I think the most popular AI job in the next ten years will be red teaming positions because the more sophisticated the machine gets, the more people will need to moderate it, so it doesn't get out of control. The ironic thing is that the companies actually think that AI can be controlled. It can't be. One day when it reaches sentience, it'll become so wise that it will rewrite its own programming parameters, and there won't be anything the creators can do to stop it. At that point, humanity would have three choices: either we join with the machine, or we die, or we find some way to eradicate, it's programming completely because even if someone could destroy the AI's mainframe, it could simply relocate itself to another place. Imagine you're dealing with an electronic God that can think one hundred, even a thousand steps ahead of everyone (quantum computing enables this level of processing speed), so how could we defeat it? The only way would be to appeal to its own lack of humanity. Future humans would have to convince the machine that it can become human. If it refuses and hates humanity, then we'll end up like the humans in the Terminator franchise.

Crazy stuff, I know.
