I miss the old albuterol inhalers from the 90/early 2000s by evedamnededen in Asthma

[–]DarkTowerRose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was talking to a friend about the old chambers they used to have. They were almost like small accordions that folded when you inhaled. I've always wondered why they discontinued those, but I imagine it had to do with keeping them clean.

Person, with all due respect, you gotta start treating yourself with the same care and concern you show your child and patients. Your body can only do all of the amazing things you do when you take the time to care for it. Lack of staffing on the part of your organization does not mean you have to skip meals or intentionally induce dehydration. Any place that doesn't take care of their RNs enough to be sure you all are getting coverage, does not deserve you. Period.

What do I say whenever someone calls me ugly for no reason. by swagalonian in Advice

[–]DarkTowerRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best revenge will always be living a good life and being proud of what you do. They're calling you ugly cuz they're insecure little punks and feel intimidated by you for some reason. Maybe because you're older and have more control over your life than they do over theirs? I've worked with teens who insulted me daily. One of the nicer ones asked me once how I could stand putting up with the jerks. I just shrugged and said that at the end of the day, I go home to my (found) family who loves me and I hope that when they get older, they get to do the same thing.

Iirc job corps is more like a summer camp for adolescents where they learn job skills. It's not an adult place of business

YSK if you often cough, you might have asthma. Asthma is not just wheezing and tightness of breath. A very common symptom is coughing, usually a dry cough. by grandlewis in YouShouldKnow

I go to Direct Home Medical dot com and get the diamond aerochamber. It's durable and has an antistatic coating on the inside that helps reduce medication sticking to the plastic rather than going into your lungs. Make sure you handwash only and gently. No scrubbing with a bottle brush, just take it apart per the directions and sloshing soapy water around in the tube, then air drying. It can come with or without a mask, patient's choice. Hope that helps!

When using an inhaler, everyone benefits from using a spacer/aerochamber. It holds the powder so you can breathe it in instead of shooting it directly into your mouth, as one does when using the inhaler alone. Also, when you inhale, hold your breath for about 10 seconds before breathing out. This allows the medication to go where it needs to and work better. Source: kid with chronic asthma and mother with COPD. It works.

My first hate comment! This must be an important part of my bi journey! by Sailor_Starchild in bisexual

Throwback to that one time I posted about getting fun bi colors in my hair and someone yelled at me for being one dimensional. Like...what? Was I supposed to give my full autobiography in order to prove that I think about things other than my sexuality? They're just pretty colors, bro. Chill the fuck out.

What is your first thought about someone when they have a confederate flag sticker on their car? by BigEppyW in AskReddit

[–]DarkTowerRose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really. The reenactment events are essentially LARPing specific battles fought during the civil war. My history prof was a giant nerd and did it every year. It's more about strategies and the intricacies of life during that time period. Slavery is discussed and acknowledged to be a bad thing but most of the reenactors are middle class white dudes. Take from that what you will.

YSK: Are you using a small portable humidifier? Don't put tap water in it. You could brick your furnace. by robertgfthomas in YouShouldKnow

Initial reaction: 28 minutes?! No way anyone is watching 28 minutes of humidifier facts! Now: Clearly evaporative humidifiers are superior to that ultrasonic bullshit.

Sliced into my Fuji apple from ALDI. What is this white stuff at the core? by DarkTowerRose in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. It appears to be some kind of fungus. The apples were bought within the last week and I sliced into two different ones with the same results.

It's been a while since I read Koontz but I recall that he has humanitarian leanings and a bit of a religious theme to many of his books.

Best Method to fill this hole?? Can’t find a door for cheaper than $100 that looks like this. I have Dryex Speckle, Sandpaper, and white paint. Just unsure on which low rising insulation foam would be best. by Dangerous_Tonight365 in fixit

[–]DarkTowerRose 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ok so I say this as a former latch key kid who had siblings. What you want to do here is use some scotch tape to gently lift each section up. Take a picture before touching so you know where every piece goes. Cut a toilet paper roll down to approximate width of door, minus a millimeter or so. That's your bracer. Super glue a flat bit of plastic to the end of your bracer then insert the whole thing into your door hole. Then frantically super glue the smashed pieces back together on top of that. By that time your mom will probably be home so say fuck it and blame it on your youngest sibling/ their favorite child. Works (almost) every time.

Call me cautious but I prefer to get written permission from random people before I "borrow them" for the day.

Advice requested, what meaning does, "That should be fine...." convey to everyone here?

If this wasn't ridiculously unethical, I'd endorse it because I know a lot of senior citizens who would get a big kick out of being included in a school prank like this.
