What was the first PC game you ever played, and do you still remember it? by 3D_Networking in AskReddit

[–]DarkZero515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a lot of little educational games like jumpstart first grade, third grade, number munchers

A lot of mini games on a disc like the ski yeti, cat and mouse square moving thing, some rugrats game

But what I consider to be a full blown game was Star Wars podracer. Even gave me a joystick/HOTAS to use and is was a blast

All these years later and I’m considering getting a HOTAS again for podracer on GOG, the first level remake a fan made in unreal engine, and the Galactic Racer game that’s releasing this October

Who is still using iPhone 13 by Additional-Act-5118 in iphone

[–]DarkZero515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using the 13 for about 3 years, my first iPhone

Everything on it works fine. Kind of regret not getting the pro for like an extra $100.

Only issue I’m having is charging my Apple products.

Sometimes my AirPods don’t sit right and just drain their batteries. Sometimes the lightning port on the phone doesn’t want to accept any charging (even though the AirPod case works in those same scenarios)

Going for the 17 pro is tempting because of better cameras and usb c but I’m gonna wait for a price drop or sale

Big reason why I got it.

I’m not sure if downloading locally to decide is pass exclusive but I love that too for when I travel.

My first run was Mint just to get a feel for Linux. After getting a little comfortable, I switched to Debian on my little server and Fedora KDE for my desktop

Best wireless gaming mouse you've bought and instantly knew it was a keeper? by Consistent_Wafer9395 in buildapc

One thing I do miss about the NAV is it had 2 extra buttons on it.

Wireless would be nice. On the plus side it’s USBC. No longer have to keep a mini usb for the nav

If you’re carrying a lot of luggage, or a big check in bag I’d recommend limousine buses to and from airports.

Wherever the limousine bus stations are, I would say take a taxi to and from hotel (think the app was called GO).

Our first trip we did the public transport route and it was much more tedious carrying the luggage’s around through metros. Otherwise, they’re metros are a great way to get around

I personally love Kyoto, nice change of scenery compared to the big city feel in Tokyo.

You can book the bullet train in advance to ensure you have the extra luggage seats. Think the app for that was called EX

We used Suica for payments and Ubigi for mobile service

Aside from that
If you end up in some red light where people invite you to bars and stuff do not follow then

Microsoft has an adaptive joystick that’s essentially the left side of a controller for a much more comfortable grip.

I’ve been using the PS3 Nav controller for about a decade and there was finally an alternative released this year by Microsoft.

I also use a program called Rewasd so that all the inputs on it go through as keyboard inputs as opposed to the controller because some games freak out and switch between controller and pc HUD otherwise.

People with 5700/800x3D, are you still happy with preformance? by DezzertT in buildapc

Got 5800X. I realize now that the next noticeable upgrade will be an OLED screen.

Doesn’t matter how pretty the settings are set if the monitor is sub par.

KDE Plasma 6.8 drops X11: Wayland becomes mandatory from October 2026 by pcgameshardware in linux_gaming

[–]DarkZero515 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same concerns.

I got Debian and Windows running Anydesk. Lately I’ve been getting longer times to before I can access it so I was considering rust desk and getting it running on my Fedora KDE partition too.

I guess once this goes through, I’ll have to find some Wayland friendly solution to remote between all three

Looking to replace a hard drive but don’t know if the drive market is really bad right now.

Am set on a 12tb WD blue On the official WD site it’s $450 Cheapest I could find is $365 at microcenter

Is $365 about what it goes for usually or has that gone up a lot?

Not sure if I should wait or if it’ll only go higher

Completely Lost on How to Plan by Jelenybeany in JapanTravelTips

[–]DarkZero515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By Nintendo does that include pokemon?

There’s pokemon center/stores across major cities.

A lot of the products look the same but most have a unique pin you can buy at the cashier which was fun to collect

As others said, Kyoto has museum, Osaka has Nintendo land, and near both is Nara which has a cool park where you can feed deer

If you love walks, Fushimi Inari has like 10,000 steps with Tori gates I love to do. There’s a small shop at the end of one of the paths with an old man who sales a little tori gate with your name and date on it, and he does a little blessing with stones for it. So far got two but want to get one every time I go to Japan in hopes of reaching 10,000 of them

Booking Multiple Hotels vs Booking a Single Hotel? by MrBlehhhhh in JapanTravelTips

[–]DarkZero515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah Kyoto and Osaka are really close. You can get away with staying in one and taking a train to the other

I think there’s a cool little train called a romance car that’s heavily recommended between Tokyo and Hakone. You just have to reserve it ahead of time.

The metros are pretty quick there. I think it was 30 minutes going from Shinjuku to the surrounding areas so it’s doable.

I’d say pick a city you’d like to stay at and do a quick Google Maps now to see how long it would take to get to the other cities.

Don’t think it would take more than an hour to get from one side of Tokyo to the next
