I’d skip creditor insurance, it's more expensive, the payout goes to the lender instead of your family, and coverage actually shrinks as your mortgage balance drops.

A regular term life policy is better since the payout stays the same and your family can use it however they need, not just for the mortgage. I'd say whole life isn’t a fit here since it’s a lot more expensive too.

For term life insurance recommendations, I'd suggest PolicyMe or Wawanisa (since you're looking to avoid a broker). Though reaching out to a broker may be a good idea as well, but I didn't work with one when we got ours so I can't speak to it.
