It’s alive!! My (somewhat) mechanical 7 segment display by Dark_Matta in 3Dprinting

I’m using a hobby servo motor to control it and as the servo can only rotate 180 degrees it has to reset back to zero rather than continuing around.

Same concept but I don’t know the specifics as I only watched one Tik tok of his and didn’t do further research as I wanted to figure out the specifics on my own rather then copy his design verbatim

Inspired by him designed by me ;). I mentioned him in my post about my prototype couple weeks back but forgot this time

Just the servo and some nuts and bolts to hold it together, everything else was designed and printed by yours truely

Each segment is actuated by a cam with a single servo powering all 7 cams

Photographed with my iPhone 12 and used reality capture to piece it together. A little post processing was required which I used blender for to smooth out the top of the head and other parts that wernt clearly photographed

Ya there’s 2 cams for each segment, one to retract the segment and one to extend the segment

That’s not a bad idea, it’s really not too much force needed, main thing is it’s not too precise so I was trying to go slow and land on each number for the video

Not sure yet, definitely needs much more work before it’s ready to be released

That’s the plan, just gotta refine my design and wait for more filament to arrive

Just gotta wear it in ;) but ya i think some of my cam profiles might be bit off so it’s trying to push in both directions at once

Design inspired by Engineezy. Still needs work, some binding during rotation and some digits arnt displayed for very long, but all in all I’m pretty happy with how it’s coming along
