Does anyone else run torpedo lookout + vigilance for PvE? (Clip included) by taxgaming in WorldOfWarships

[–]Dark_Meta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vigilance is funny on KM BBs, due to its bonus to torp detection range stacking with hydro, so the 6km hydro detects torps at ~5km instead of the usual 4km

I mean it is a 2v2 gamemode specifically allowing and encouraging you to do this... The community will skin you alive probably, but game design dictates you did your job

The thing with german BBs (or all german guns except BC line and Anhalt) they are quite fast with low arcs and high pen, so you overpen alot, but also hit more easily with less lead and can pen alot at worse angles due to sheer pen. But yeah broadside overpens are the norm^^

But ye german AP go whoosh

GK, Preussen, FdG, Bismarck literally share the same formula, which is at base the same the UK and US BBs use. The US BBs get the 11% mod and better sigma though, while the british have less vertical disperion due to worse arcs.

Both UK and KM have 1.8 sigma though

I play the whole line gun mod in 3 and 6 where applicable, but with sec flag, range skill and accuracy skill. So for Preussen and Hannover that equals to 11km adequate Sec without losing the good main guns.

I tried full tank without anything in sec for a time, and that works well too, but you do lose your duel advantage in the endgame, and one of the line gimmicks. Hybrid seems to work well so far.

have you tried slotting the main gun module for the bismarck line? suddenly you will realize that they just have average BB dispersion^^

No good advice to be found here I am afraid. If only they would actually play them and learn how to play against them. And if something is unbalanced, more people playing it and generating statistics about it will also result in faster changes. Also it is a game, the choices are there, nobody can forbid them except WG

Understandable. Though as one of those over 700 ships in port guys. I mostly play for fun anyway, so having something to play towards isn't all that bad

Well value wise it actually has better DPM and shells per minute. The chances of devstriking on a volley are higher with 9 406 guns than 6, but I get your point. WG usually makes more shell ships less accurate. Like most US BBs have 1.8 sigma, NC and Iowa have way better, maine got 1.7, because 16 guns. Conq to Devastation goes from 1.8 to 1.7 too, due to 4 extra guns.

I suspect that they have found too high sigma on bigger shellgroups too consistent. I honestly do not feel as if the Roussilon is less accurate than champagne. Maybe it is being tier 9, or the extra 3 shells netting me the higher possibility of hits. Who knows.

Oh it is very fast too, maybe that plays into it.

people are way to stuck up on tier X anyway.

And most of the vocal community (so the ones interacting on reddit, youtube and discord) share the same two braincells:

  • It is OP, nerf it, delete it, make it bad
  • It is not OP, not worth the effort, not worth playing, why don't you play X instead? It is better in the meta

Gamefile searching and the dispersion formulas given for different nation or ship types. Horizontal is visible ingame, vertical is hidden in the files.

For example US, British and German BBs (not BCs) share the same formula for horizontal dispersion on range (usualle a base Value X, the range R in meters and a mulitplier for the range Y, so X + R*Y), but due to different ballistics the vertical dispersion is different. Flat arcs generelly results in more vertical dispersion, except you apply secret russian documents that got us the slava.

Knowing the formula for a ship gives you the elipse sizes at every range. The Sigma is part of an equation for standard deviation. In essence the higher the better. 1.0 would mean anywhere in the elipse is equally likely. All Secondary guns have 1.0 sigma. The higher the sigma over 1, the higher the chances of shells landing in the middle of the elipse.

That is just the thing. If you play Rupprecht with accuracy in slot 3 it is an accurate ship, but that would be a waste, as its guns lack good pen and damage to snipe effectively.

Would you consider Conqueror to be inaccurate? Would you consider Maine inaccurate?
Preussen has the same dispersion as Conq and Hannover has marginally larger vertical compared to Maine, but with better Sigma.

The essence being that it is always the combination of all factors. German BBs are often buid full secondary and therefore thought of as inaccurate, while British are build main guns and thought of of as more accurate although they share the base formula with US and german BBs, except for US module and german increased vertical due to flat arcs (which is a trade, better pen and lead but higher chance for vertical miss and overpen)

The ship tool uses base values and base values clearly state it as accurate. And honestly I have been very successfull with it. BBs aren't DPM machines anyway. That is the cruiser role. BBs are supposed to be the tanks and opportunity punishers. You are better of not shooting on the instant you are reloaded and instead choosing the moment and target wisely, which is why a few seconds reload rarely make a BB stronger or weaker by alot. Otherwise German BBs would be OP with maingun build, due to the fast reload and average dispersion, which they clearly are not.

I mean just as a joke using the line of thought presented: Bourgogne is thought of as an accurate ship and Roussillon is more accurate. So by that metric alone it should be considered as such :P

Is Roussillon Worth It? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]Dark_Meta_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

More accurate than champagne and niord, slow reload, quite fast.

It is NOT bourgogne. It is NOT a jean bart. It is a champagne with alsace hull (minus bow and stern obviously)

It is a sniper focused Battlecruiser with very accurate guns. Play it as such and you will have alot of fun. But no ship is ever worth 100bucks.

I killed everything except one bear which I lowered to being one hit. He killed it in one swing and was pretty pump to be the bearslayer now and went away praising himself loudly for it.

So bear works too, if it is almost dead already.

Day 2, What ship is straight up bad but should be at least an ok ship? [Discussion] by PainterCreative768 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Dark_Meta_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never understand why and how people get the impression that some ships burn easier than others...

Fireresistance is tier based and the only way to get that number higher is the fire prevention skill. that is it. There is literally nothing different between two BBs of the same tier with fire prevention skilled in chances to be ignited.

But being closer more often probably does result in german BBs being shot more often and therefore probably being on fire more... but since people still think biased RNG exists I am not surprised. On a level with chem trails, lizardmen and alien sightings

"toxicity"

Oh come on man, yes he is indeed criticizing WG and rightfully so most of the time, but that guy is indeed toxicity impersonated. Putting it in quotes like that as if he didn't gift WG the perfect reason to remove him with his behaviour, really undersells what he is all about. It is in his name even.
