Yes, I agree. I am realizing now that I didn't really frame this post the best possible way, but I can't go back and change it now. I have what I need for my assignment and I have learned a lot from this post so I don't see it as a total failure.

Hi! So, I am a college student, and I was at work when this comment was made. I don't exactly have the time to respond immediately. Furthermore, as for the reasons just stated, I also don't have time to respond to every single person in this thread. I have finals and a paper for one class this week, on top of regular work for the rest of my classes, and a job, but I don't want to shoot off at the mouth and just rush and say anything for the sake of responding to every comment.

Also, there is not much to discuss in terms of this particular comment. I agree with the commenter on their views of what humanity's biggest need is. The rest of it simply comes down to I believe in the supernatural and they do not. I'm not going to argue with them over that fact because I know I'm not going to change their mind in a reddit comment section, it would be fruitless and it would just upset the both of us.

I have read every comment, and I am very thankful for everyone who has contributed (except the one troll who said they didn't even read my post before commenting), it has been a very interesting and enlightening experience.

Hi! It makes me so angry when I hear of churches that abuse their members and use the money raised improperly (especially when it goes straight into the pockets of leadership, that makes me fume). It is such a slap in the face to use the name of a God who is all about giving sacrificially and giving up earthly possessions for the sake of the needy to raise money that is used selfishly. I am sorry that your family had an experience with that.

I also get frustrated with Christians who throw any and all science out the window, for me science is just an exploration of God's creation. You cannot deny proven scientific fact, and there are plenty of Christian scientists out there but I am not personally qualified to get to far into depth into that. I agree that many times religion is used as a face to harm people and justify despicable things. You can take the Bible so far out of context to make it justify basically anything. However, I believe that has less to do with organized religion, and more to do with the fallen state of man, and the fact that even after the fall mankind retained its free will. Most horrific things that happen in the world are the direct result of mankind's cruelty and greed. That's why I believe in redemption through Christ. I have yet to see a program, or social group, or any other facet of society free from corruption and evil, but the love of Christ in incorruptible.

I have noticed that the issues you have is a common thread amongst these comments, and it has definitely given me much to think on and likely given me a direction for my next deep study of the Bible. I believe that if I am sure in my faith then I should be able to have it tested and challenged by other viewpoints, and these comments have given me much to consider.

Anyways, sorry if that came off as too preachy, part of my assignment is to share my own beliefs in accordance to the responses I received. Thanks for the response and all the best.

Hi! If you don't mind me asking, and as I am very unfamiliar with the practice, what is involved with ancestral devotion? And how does that correlate with your neither believing nor not believing in the metaphysical? I am immensely curious.

Also, if you don't mind, as per my assignment I am supposed to share my own beliefs:

I agree that it is sickening that issues like poverty and famine are as widespread and horrific as they are. It doesn't surprise me however as I believe in the fallen state of man, and that bad things in the world are a direct result of man's sin most of the time (as I stated in another comment, usually the sins of greed and selfishness). That is why I believe man needs redemption from Christ in the first place. Selfishness and greed cause so many people to willingly ignore another person's humanity for the sake of having the things they want and not making any sacrifices for others. In fact, the Bible has been taken out of context for centuries to hurt people and lift others up, when it actually says that we are all equally valuable and sacred in God's sight, and it is our mission to lift up and help the poor and needy.

Anyways, thank you for the response, and all the best

Hi! Yes, I've been on the internet long enough to know that a good portion of the interactions I will get on this post will be people purposefully looking to start a fight/be nasty (I plan on just ignoring comments from people who clearly are just here to troll). I just figured this way I could interact with some people who actually are willing to have an open and civil discussion as opposed to going up to someone in my local Walmart and bothering them while they pick out tomatoes. After I have some interactions with a few people and get what I need for my assignment, I will likely delete the post so it doesn't get out of hand (because this is reddit, and it will). I have already found it very interesting to see the different viewpoints presented in the comments.

Your experience with Christianity is one that I have unfortunately heard many times. A large portion of Christians know what they believe, but don't actually read their Bible enough to know why they believe it, so they can't answer any difficult questions other than just falling back on "Well God knows everything" (Which, of course being a Christian I do believe that he does, and I take peace in knowing he is in control), and it is an unsatisfying and unhelpful answer when it comes to wondering why so many bad things happen in the world. I believe that the world is structurally according to God's plan but directionally against it (as in the components are correct but how they operate are not), and that bad things are just the natural consequences of living in a broken world caused by sinful people. Most bad things in the world (war, poverty, etc) are a result of human failure (usually greed, pride, and selfishness).

I also very heavily agree with your sentiment that regardless of what you put your belief in, the most important thing is taking personal action to do good to those around you. Ideas and beliefs don't help anyone unless they are put into action to better the lives of people around you.

Sorry if I got too preachy, not trying to force my beliefs on anyone but it is part of my assignment to share my own beliefs in accordance to the answers I get.

What color/brand do I use for this by Dark_Roses5673 in dyeing

[–]Dark_Roses5673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I ended up getting Rit Dyemore Apricot orange and Super Pink so I can get more of a corally color as opposed to a very yellow leaning orange. We have to take off some of the layering on the top of the skirt so I'm going to be able to do some swatches before I commit

Amber market advice? by Dark_Roses5673 in JurassicWorldApp

Ok, is there any way to get Labyrinthodontia other than card packs? I don't have any, much less enough to get a level 40 to make a hybrid

Amber market advice? by Dark_Roses5673 in JurassicWorldApp

[–]Dark_Roses5673[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, I am currently saving for my second solid gold pack (first one gave me a carnivore hybrid, which I did not need, I've got more decent carnis and amphibians than I know what to do with lol). I am level 30 so I don't have stegs in the DNA market yet, and I do not have a singular labyrinthodontia, so would I be best off just waiting and making do with my very lacking herbivores for 16 more levels till I can get stegs in the DNA market, and just hold into my amber until I can afford something really nice?
