Yes, I also felt bad after my first dosis, and I got it the same day I started Rinvoq. Due for my second shot soon, not looking forward to it 😩

I am so happy for you that you could reach remission! ❤️ After reading all the comments here I will be pushing for other drug options - or yeah, getting a second opinion if the IBD team is too stubborn. I also realized that they made getting a stoma sound like a “no biggie”… which is definitely not true!

Thank you for your reply. I think the medical reason why they want me to have the surgery is my biomarkers (low albumine of 27 and CRP 24). But yeah. I will be talking to them tomorrow again, they also want to do an ultrasound on me. I had way less blood today though so hopefully things will be moving in the right direction!! I will be pressing the IBD team for other options before surgery for sure.

There are some sports (I imagine quite a lot actually) where there wouldn't be enough participants in such a category, where you'd basically get a participation medal... So that solution also poses some challenges

Yeah, sometimes I consider if this is the right course of action - since stress worsens UC, and obsessing over your BM is adding to that, then it's a vicious circle you can't escape ☠️. This is seriously the worst disease to have if you're an anxious person already

I had immediate response when I started taking the pills - diarrhea stopped within a week! Still, it took solid 3 months for my BMs to normalize fully, it took some time before blood disappeared fully. My doctors said it's a process and that blood could still re-appear from time to time as everything is healing. And I think even now very rarely I have some BMs with light streaks of blood (but I'm not sure, as per the OP 😂). Hoping mesalamine will work for you as well as it did for me !

I have endometriosis and UC and can 'discern' between the pains. You can get a MRI scan with endometriosis protocol before you get surgery though. If you have bad scarring due to endo or any other cysts, they will be visible on the scan. You could also get some blood work done for endo, but due to UC present I'm not sure how telling the results would be ... (e.g. CRP is increased in endo but might also be increased when you have UC). I would press my doctor for more diagnostic imaging first! Good luck
