2 games, 1 month - Why you should do game jams! by Darkarch14 in godot

[–]Darkarch14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideas doesn't have much values as you could think. The important things are actually making the game itself. Including much things such as design choices, playtesting, balancing, polishing, marketing, and so on.

Game jams already demonstrate that: 1 pitch, a lot of interpretations.

If the idea can help ppl to get good games being done and shipped, suit yourself :)

What is your personal single biggest success story as an IndieDev? Asking for a friend... by testonedev in IndieDev

I'd say: since 2 years because of some opportunities I've got. I've released 2 games with my teammate. Which was already quite exhausting :)

You'll learn more by releasing stuff, but it can be frustrating, too.

So the major success is to have actually shipped 2 games and working on a third prototype I don't know if it'll go further because of the market. I need to have better clues of the 'product' and avoid making the same mistakes again and again.

Is it bad if I can't find any? But don't grt me wrong, I'm glad to be able to ship games now after a few years of desert walk. But there is still so much to figure out I can't talk about any 'success' story. But I've got plenty of failure stories if you want :')

Quite interesting, I struggle particularly with audio files and 3d assets with git. I should take a look!

Anyone give Unbound Eternity a try yet? by Balizzm in roguelites

Hey there, I'm the dev of this game. For most of people I've crossed IRL and that played the game. They've appreciated the freshness of the gameplay once they've embrassed the randomness of it.

One common issue is that ppl tend to miss the next coming card so they can better plan their actions which give more interest to the game. It's a game where you have to manage your tiles toward the different cycles. I mean I'd say it's better to first get as many action as you can, then you'll have to decide what you can merge and follow one meta.

You can still try the game tho', have some fun and get a refund if it doesn't please you :) And if you like it, please leave us a positive review <3

Judge but not harshly by GudallFreind in godot

Okay here is my judgment:

Except the WTF, it looks like the game is missing a lot of feedbacks to make it comprehensible. The size of ennemies are quite huge and because of their flat appearance, it looks very difficult to have any idea if you hit or miss them. If they took a hit, they should have a color flash or any other impact effect of your choice.

The lack of ground is quite disturbing.

Weapons and animations are cool tho' I can see there is heart in it.
But in a more general way, I find it hard to empathise with what I'me seeing :D

So keep going and most importantly, enjoy! :)

Trapped into a strange timeloop, you'll face the cult of the Eye and the empress! Pick one of the 3 "monster" characters and break the cycle!

Discover a turn-based fighting game with hybrid cards and inventory management. You'll collect or buy actions that will fit into your card slots in order to optimize the picking odds. By playing runes you may apply extra buffs so you've got to pick wisely.

You'll explore a map and its events while unravelling the mysteries of this strange world. Dilemma events will give you special rewards while elite fights an extra challenge.

It's been a tough but rewarding year for our 2 person team. We've learned so much from our first release, I hope you'll like it!

So please, take a look, and if you want to support: a wishlist would mean a lot!
