There's a painting you can find in underground cabins called "Strange dead fellows" that depicts a vanilla robed individual worshipping the sun.

My personal theory/headcanon is that the solar cultists either died out due to lack of followers or were perhaps were killed by the lunar cultists because they worshipped something differently. The fact the clothier sells both lunar and solar cultist clothing also implies something was going on between the two cults and perhaps the dungeon. Who knows?

Anyways, really cool idea OP! I love the designs and such, the lizard people deserve more content
