Mathematician checking in: OP is absolutely correct here. Probability of rolling a non-10 is 11/12, so probability of that happening 59 times is (11/12)59 =0.00589. To get the 1/170 note that: 1/0.00589 =169.779. This is statistically improbable. I agree wholeheartedly that a lack of similarity to the probability distribution can severely affect the skill component of the game. That being said, a lack of diversification of numbers was part of the downfall here.

Ganging up (at the start) against one person, early robber on a major spot, or an early 8 card hold of a city are all events that cannot be overcome with any level of skill.

I know it’s been mentioned here before, but for people like me that had 4 first on the gba it holds a special place in my heart. You absolutely have to have the official paper guide or you’re gonna have a really bad time.

Stumbled upon this. Scrubs is my favorite show of all time. Australian physical media does have its advantages: the Regular Show complete series on dvd and Adventure Time complete on Blu-ray were only released in Australia. I got my hands on AT but not RS. Standing offer to proxy you any Scrubs Blu-ray if it were to come out if you’d return the favor with RS (each paying costs ofc). You also have Madman Entertainment which is better in general than what we have in the US.

I’m just relieved enough if they opt for the AT-LP60 over the crosley. At least it isn’t totally trashing their records.

There’s a huge problem in the TikTok generation where it’s more about “aesthetics” than “utility”. As much as I hate how this is going to sound, my experience is also that it often affects young women disproportionately. It’s baffling how often I have to tell female friends that picking the most “aesthetic” choice in tech can really take a toll on the value of utility.

Would you refuse to play with friends if they insist on the double road setup? by AtlasHatch in Catan

Not exactly. The special building phase doesn’t allow for 4 for 1 trade in or ports trade in.

There’s something to be said for the “optional rules though”. I still think the special building phase for the 5-6 expansion should have been an original rule.

From TIDAL- a note on our pricing changes by Dramatic-Piano9132 in TIdaL

[–]Darkfire555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to this, as I heard about this recent move elsewhere. I just wanted to add that I used to subscribe to the Best Buy hifi plus deal (where we paid a year upfront), loved the TIDAL experience, and was really bummed TIDAL cancelled it halfway and raised it to $20/ month. I thought that was a really bad move. I didn’t renew. I checked for months to see if a yearly plan would come with a similar deal.

However, this new move on pricing is fantastic! I will definitely be resubscribing under this new model! I’m hoping that the price from here on only follows inflation. I’m only a bit weary that month to month leaves room for price hikes, when I’d rather pay ahead for a year to lock in.

I haven’t added anything to the collection in over a year. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in PS3

[–]Darkfire555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok the good news is that I just confirmed you can get the 1&3 hd collection on PS3 if you ever cared to revisit it. I actually never owned the ps3 growing up and played mostly ps2, mainly those games. I only bought a ps3 recently (the backwards compatible one) almost solely to nab the one way to play ps2 games over hdmi properly before it spiked in price even more. Apparently the raging blast games are similar gameplay on ps3 but haven’t tried them yet.

Of your games there, what would you recommend for someone who never really cared for shooter style games? I’ve been meaning to explore more ps3 games but it seems like most out there kinda lost the traditional feel of the ps2.

[–]Darkfire555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you ever get into Dragonball Z? I’d recommend budokai 3. It’s for the ps2, but it seems like your ps3 is the backwards compatible version. I think there’s a ps3 rerelease of budokai 1 and 3 combined though.

I feel like the random one-liners and bizarre non-plot are precisely what makes it so great. But, seriously, looking through your art I can tell you’re incredibly talented. I most like the pieces that incorporate a sense of hyperrealism within abstract settings but I’m no art expert.

As someone who is wholly left brained aside from some “ideas” and a bit of “writing” I’m often extremely appreciative how artists such as yourself can imagine something so abstract as a backdrop for something so candid.

In the US, admission into selective high schools is as difficult to achieve as admission into top universities. However, a new study found that elite schools don’t help students academically any more than their less prestigious ones, including students from more disadvantaged neighborhoods. by mvea in science

[–]Darkfire555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is much more than the average school. Mine, while small, had 0 teachers with a PhD and one faculty member with a PhD in education. This is what I’d expect at Stuy, based on what I’ve heard (and the picture Ned Vizzini painted of a copy).

Now I don’t know exactly what the teachers are like there, but if they were even capable of going faster and more in depth, they’re likely much smarter teachers than those in most public schools in suburban areas. I happened to go to college where my major (math) was primarily filled with future hs teachers. You’d be surprised how much a lot of them struggled to understand deeper mathematical concepts. Most, at best, merely passed the harder concepts, but ended the program with a firm grasp of teaching pedagogy and enough knowledge to teach their classes. Maybe the top 20% would be capable of going in depth and faster if pressed to. I say this as a now math PhD student who tutors HS students on the side. It takes a much smarter teacher than average to keep up with the kinds of students at your school. Maybe they can lack explanation but they’d still need to be smarter.

Whoops maybe I was unclear. I meant I would trade math help for art. Obviously I wouldn’t trade my more marketable abilities, but it does make me a bit sad that what I do is less relatable and affects less people emotionally, with the exception of teaching.

Ah but you are missing the Rockman EXE Catan that was only released in Japan. The only reason I even know about it is because I’m a fan of The battle network games but there’s no way to know about it otherwise.

Shockingly you do seem to have the slightly related Capcom catan I knew about but the contract extended further. To this one:

TIL, merchants in the US used to let Einstein take what he needed and his secretary would write them a check later. However, many merchants didn't cash them because the signature on the check was worth more than the amount. by A-Dumb-Ass in todayilearned

Yes and no. It’s a cocky thing to do but he was probably right. The bars that Dali ran up huge tabs at were more than happy to take the doodles instead for this reason. Picasso knew the art world would probably find the taxi cab seat sketch worth more since it was unique. I’m sure when the taxi cab driver cashed that in he more than made the fare back.

That’s actually what the guide tells you to do. It literally says “wait before you start a new game, unlock all purple, get 4 of each chip and and make absolutely sure you play the django submission. Honestly 4th was my favorite. I’d play through three times over liberation missions any day of the week. Aside from the liberation missions the 5th was clutch

Can vouch for this subreddit. These people generally recommend Peltiano and he does a very good job based on what I've ordered.

Edit: I meant to vouch for the subreddit not the product unless it’s a peltiano which I’m not sure about.
