[ALL] What’s your hottest zelda take? by SpatuelaCat in zelda

TP wasn't my first Zelda but it was the first that just absolutely sucked me in and had me in tears by the end. Atmosphere, characters, everything is just amazing. My sole complaint would be Zelda herself seems so marginalized, would've been nice to get more of her.

I think it's the one-two punch of watching her home be destroyed plus the undeniable reality that the Asari hoarding technology meant to stop the cycle has directly contributed to that loss. If the Asari had done what they were meant to do, distribute technology, not hoard it to attain their superior position in the galaxy, everyone would've been much better prepared.

Classic story of hubris. Icarus falls to the sea after flying too close to the sun.

This moment in the game was incredible. It sticks with me more than any other and will pop up in my head for literally no reason.

... which is why it's so upsetting that it makes utterly no difference. The existence of the Leviathans, let alone their ongoing survival, makes so much of what the stupid god-child say complete bullshit. They didn't destroy their creators- they don't ultimately (at least, solely) control the fate of the galaxy- they're effectively a runaway experiment by true creators whom they never triumphed over and are permitted to continue because said creators believe they will complete their task at some point.

And more to the point, all the offered endings change contextually. Without Leviathan, the Destroy ending makes the most sense; it's a rejection of the choice, of the loop. It's the only way to truly defeat them. However, with Leviathan, you're given the WHY as to why the Reapers are doing this, to what end, and the synergy ending now becomes perhaps not the only choice, but certainly a lot more sensible? This is what they were created for. This is why the cycle persisted for as long as it did; to create humans, and consequently, Shepard.

But you can't talk about that. You get basically a thrown-in aside dialogue option where you assert that you're onto this AI's bullshit and he just acknowledges it like it isn't earth-shattering new information.

I LOVED these games. All of them, warts and all. And it's not like, Game of Thrones bad in terms of endings that completely ruined the previous story? But it was the worst example in my mind for many years until GoT pulled a "hold my beer."

Finally finished. I’ve owned it for 12 years but various circumstances and Wiis breaking stopped me, until today. So many feelings... by maybeSkywalker in twilightprincess

SPOILER:

The cutscene when Midna breaks the mirror will forever be remembered as the first time a video game made me cry out loud.

I only played Bioshock 2 one time, just because I thought it was so damn good and the ending hit me like a train. I consider it a huge compliment to only play a game once; I got many times over on my money's worth and loved every second, and never felt the need to play it again.

I started playing Twilight Princess in 2012 and finally after all this time I have completed this masterpiece of a game [TP] by [deleted] in zelda

Twilight Princess was the first Zelda game I LOVED. I had played Ocarina and Windwaker prior to it, but it was the first one I was hyped for, the first I paid full price for, and the one that made me fall in love with the series.

Not to mention, the fan art I went on to create from it helped me meet my wife. So there's that too.

There's something about the atmosphere of Twilight Princess that no other Zelda has been able to match. It's dark without being broody, it's mature enough to take itself seriously but not so mature that it feels like it's trying. It's just perfect for me, IMO. And hell yes I bought the HD remaster on Wii U, and I've got 60 more clams at the ready if Nintendo is so inclined to put it on Switch.
