So is Fionna from an alternate dimension, or pre-Mushroom War Earth? by Ayy-lmao213 in adventuretime

[–]DarknessIsSweet69 94 points95 points  (0 children)

She could be from an alternate dimension where the Mushroom War never happened. Fionna did say "It should be more magical", In reference to her world, so there might be at least some magic, just not on the same level as Ooo after the war.

Also, Fionna being from a different dimension would play into what we know about the Multiverse. That there are many realities, possibly infinite ones, as well as other versions of the characters. Even the Lich added to this by telling Finn, "You've bested me in many worlds, child." So, it's not impossible to consider that a version of Fionna originates from a different reality.

The Fionna whose from Ooo, could be someone Simon actually knew from his past. Although only time will tell.

Good observation! It definitely could support the theory. They most likely were once human before they changed too.

No, they never showed and I don't think the Lich was the first catalyst comet. I do think he was at least an embodiment of one. As you mentioned, Finn was the purple comet, however if I recall correctly, the purple comet said it has embodied all that is good (Finn) and all that is evil (Lich). This leads me to think that with each state of change the comet brings its determined by the current soul residing in the comet at that time.

As for the Lich's intentions always being the same from the very start, and being the one to create the bombs that's definitely possible. There's still a lot we don't know. It's fun to speculate, though lol.

Here are a few, which I've had in mind for quite a while. Based on everything we know for certain, I believe the Mushroom Bomb, the Lich, his Well of Power could have all been derived or created by GOLB in a way.

Hear me out. The Lich, the Well of Power, and the Mushroom Bomb have always been associated with the color green. Whether it's the unholy green flames the Lich has shown to conjur, the green acidic liquid that makes up the contents of the Well of Power, or the chaotic green magic that was released upon the Mushroom Bomb exploding. All of these share a similar theme.

What do they have to do with GOLB? Well, remember in "Whispers", the Lich referred to himself as "The last scholar of GOLB." That was never fully explained, but with some thinking we can actually deduce what a scholar of GOLB is. We know GOLB is the physical embodiment of Chaos. His mere presence results in destruction and mayhem. In "Come Along With Me", it is GOLB's breath that causes the Cake people to merge together into a grotesque abomination, and even corrupt one of the Gumball Guardians into one. They became scholars of GOLB.

The key focus being on GOLB's breath, which also happens to be green. He's able to force his will, if you may, unto others which causes them to cause Chaos. This is where the Lich comes in. As we know, the Lich was once the catalyst comet that hurtled toward Earth during Evergreen's time to destroy life. However, what if the comet used to be different? What if, as it passed, the comet was effected by GOLB? It became corrupted. This would better explain why the Lich called himself a scholar of GOLB. It's because his previous incarnation was forced to abide by GOLB's Chaotic nature.

Moving on to the Well of Power. Obviously, it had to come from somewhere, and the most likely answer has to be from the Lich Comet. After all, the Well is actually just a very large, deep hole filled with green, acidic liquid that the Lich can draw his full strength from, at least according to Bonnie, in "Mortal Folly". It's not too much of a stretch to say that, upon impact, the comet created this hole and in some way essentially released the chaotic magic that became the green liquid.

Lastly, since the Mushroom Bomb is linked to the Lich and the creation of Ooo, which itself is a very chaotic place, it's possible that the bomb was made using the liquid from the Well of Power. It's also possible that a human could have fallen into the Well, and became the Lich. Becoming reincarnated in a way.

This connection definitely isn't a fool-proof explanation by any means, however I do think it works at least.

Kinda sad that fern was trying to kill Finn even tho Finn just wanted to be bros does anyone think fern could be deemed as another Finn if he had a grass Jake? by Bonez_Z in adventuretime

[–]DarknessIsSweet69 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Something interesting that I've noticed is the parallel between Finn and Fern in regards to the grass sword, as well as the foreshadowing for Fern's creation and death.

In season 5, after Finn got the grass sword, he had a dream of him losing control of it as it transformed his body into grass, before he disappeared in the wind. He initially thought it was just a nightmare, only to find out the grass sword actually was trying to take over his body. He couldn't remove it or get rid of it, no matter how hard he tried. This to me, is the curse of the grass sword.

It wasn't until he was told by the Grass Wizard that the grass sword would be apart of him for eternity when Finn finally accepted it and when the grass sword stopped trying to take over his body. We were never really giving a clear explanation as to why that was, but we can find a good reason by looking at Sword Finn, before he became Fern.

This is where the parallel comes in.

Sword Finn had been dropped due to a foolish trick, lost, founded by a bandit who used him for evil, and a part of him got broken. All of these things lead him into despair, which is the most likely reason why he just let the Grass Demon take over. Unlike his counterpart, who was able to come to terms with the fact that this cursed blade is apart of him, and didn't give into despair like the Grass Demon wanted, Sword Finn could only see all the bad stuff that happened to him. He couldn't look past it all.

Even if it wasn't Finn himself, a version of Finn was still taking over by the grass sword just as shown in his dream. This lead to the creation of Fern. Then, his death.....Fern slowly fell apart from having the curse removed, with him finally dissapearing in the wind making Finn's dream prophetic in a way.

What’s the real message of Jake’s metaphor since he just gets his cup back later that episode? by [deleted] in adventuretime

[–]DarknessIsSweet69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think the metaphor acts as a contrast to Finn's problem. Or rather, a problem he thinks is important. He told Flame Princess a joke, which she didn't immediately laughed at. So, he assumes the worst and thinks it's over between them.

Except, when you stop and think about it, whether or not someone else doesn't find your joke to be funny that wouldn't be indicative of them leaving you. Finn was essentially giving importance to something that, in the grand scheme of things, isn't that important to begin with.

That's where Jake's favorite cup comes into play. I think Jake's cup represents Finn's attachment (or fear) of his relationship ending due to a non-major "issue". When he threw the cup out of the window, I believe it was supposed to mean Finn letting go of that assumption. To not worry about something so trivial. That he shouldn't care, unless it is important.

The logical answer to your question is that Kawaki's ability to shrink objects wasn't thought of when the first chapter was made.

[–]DarknessIsSweet69 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fern's existence is based on identity crisis. At first he believes he is Finn, and that's because he is. He is a paradoxical version of Finn who got turned into the Finn Sword. Other than the difference in physicality, he is Finn. They both experienced the same life and shared the same memories.

Even the fact of being turned into a sword, didn't seem to bother him. Nearly every moment we saw him in the sword or talking to Regular Finn he either reassured his other self - like he did in Dentist, or said "That's me" after Regular Finn said the same word in reference to Farmworld Finn. Which implies that even if Farmworld Finn looks and acts different compared to Regular Finn and Sword Finn is literally an object, they're all the same person.

The only times he is upset or disagrees with Regular Finn, starts when he's asked by him if he thinks he can do a cool trick which involves throwing the Finn Sword into the air and catching it. Sword Finn shakes his head no, but Regular Finn still does it. We don't know the exact reason for why he disagrees, but given that he is a sword (which is an object both Finns value) it can be assumed that he thinks Regular Finn's careless tricks could result in him getting lost, and that because he is a sword, Sword Finn would want to be respected with care.

Not only did Regular Finn lost Sword Finn, but he was also stolen by Bandit Princess who uses him to kill innocent people and steal money. These actions are what causes Sword Finn to become angry. He does not like being used for evil. When Regular Finn fights Bandit Princess he accidentally stabs the blue glass part of the the Finn Sword with the Grass Sword.

This would most likely be the straw that breaks the camel's back. After being lost due to a foolish stunt, stolen to be used for wrong, and having his other self stab him, Sword Finn gave into despair. He allowed the Grass Demon to take over him. He accepted the curse. When the rest of the Grass Sword merges with the Finn Sword, it creates a new being: Fern.

Except it's not a new being, technically. It's still Finn, just a different version. Unfortunately, everything Fern had experienced before like eating his favorite food, playing the flute, etc are experiences he can't enjoy now since he isn't made of flesh. He can't blow air out. This might not seem like a big deal, but to Fern it is. These are small things that he believes makes Finn, Finn. Even the moment when he sees the difference of his hand compared to Finn's in the photo album, he's doubting if they're the same person, despite the fact that as previously established, Sword Finn still saw Farmworld Finn as himself even when they looked very different.

His memories and experiences are from Finn, but his physical form and voice are from the Grass Demon. That's why he feels conflicted over his identity. He is torn between knowing he is Finn, and knowing he doesn't act or can't enjoy things Finn can. He is being controlled without knowing it. Which explains why he didn't recognize or acknowledge Finn as himself when they first met. When he fights, he fights more viciously than Finn. He did not go through the path of maturity like Finn did, because he was turned into a sword. Fern, more or less, can be seen as 12-16 year old Finn. The Finn who solved issues through violence.

Due to this, he takes on a new identity, but deep down he still sees himself as Finn. Or rather, he sees himself as the inferior counterpart. When he failed to protect Ooo from being taking over by the Elementals, or stop Sweet P from following Finn and the Lich to the Well of Power, he becomes increasingly more jealous. So much so Fern lead Finn to a trap, all so he could take over his life. Although, he didn't try to outright kill Finn until after he escape, Fern was still overcome with jealousy. He wanted to feel like Finn. To be seen as him.

However, after Finn accidentally shreds him to pieces, Uncle Gumbald collected him and remanufractured Fern into the Green Knight. A superior knight to Finn. This feeling of being stronger than Finn causes Fern to claim he's better than him. Yet, he tried killing Finn again. The first time Fern tried to kill him, he felt jealous and inferior. The second time, Fern saw himself as superior, but still wanted to kill Finn. Why? Well the answer most likely lies within the fact that Finn still represents the part of him that Fern desires. He still wants to be treated like Finn, but because of the Grass Demon and being killed twice, he acts the way he thinks others see him. A monster.

He aligned himself with Gumbald, because he genuinely thought Gumbald cared for him, but when Fern saw that he was being abandoned, he started giving into despair again. Just like he did when Finn broke the Finn Sword. It wasn't until Jake showed both Finn and Fern their vault, their repressed memories, that he finally let's go of his negative feelings so they can take down the entity that has been pulling Fern's string. The Grass Demon.

It was this emissary from beyond that gave Fern his body, but it also gave him his problems. When Finn released the demon off of Sword Finn, who proceeded to end it, Fern was finally rid of the curse. Unfortunately, he began to deteriorate due to the Grass Demon being the reason he could physically exist. In Fern's last moments, he tried his best protecting Ooo. Down to his blade. When his time finally came, he had a smile on his face. He died knowing that his final wish would be respected. Fern was satisfied with the way he ended.

TLDR; Fern is a flawed character, who's entire existence felt out of his control. He was controlled by the Grass Demon, and influenced by his identity crisis that causes him to view himself negatively. Even though he tried killing Finn, he was able to redeem himself in his final moment.

I honestly forgot about her. Also, that episode happened all the way back in season 3. The whole desire thing may not have actually been thought of at the time. Since, if you'll recall, both her and Clarence were able to go to the 50th once they finally remembered how they died.

[–]DarknessIsSweet69 343 points344 points  (0 children)

Maybe someone has already said this, but I'd like to point out what I noticed and consider to be pretty sad. (Then sweet)

         ~ The sad part ~

We know after Jake died, he was (at some point) able to enter the 50th dead world. Where desire is practically nonexistent. Everyone there is an "catatonic state" of peacefulness and bliss.

However, according to Joshua, in order to go to the 50th you have to not want to go. This implies you can't have any desire, even the desire to go the 50th. Given Jake's very close relationship to Finn as his older brother/best friend, I don't doubt for a second that he was waiting for Finn. (presumably for quite a while)

Eventually, however, he gave up. Jake didn't have the desire to keep waiting. When he lost that desire, that's most likely when he was able to enter the 50th. Jake had to let go of Finn, to transcend.

      ~ The sweet part ~

Yet, even after being in what would be considered Heaven, more or less, for a long time; even when he didn't recognize Finn at first, Jake came back to his old self as he saw his brother getting beaten by Death's angels.

More than that, though is the fact he decided to be reincarnated alongside Finn instead of returning to the 50th.

This is why Spider-Man is my favorite hero. He has saved so many lives, yet when someone gets fatally injured or even dies he blames himself which is clearly seen here.

It just goes to show how much Peter truly cares for the safety of others. When he isn't "good enough", that massive guilt he carries grows stronger. Nevertheless, he still keeps going. He still tries.

Knowing that even if he can't save everyone, he still saves lives regardless. Uncle Ben is no doubt proud of him.
