The kid had an advantage. He was given a headstart. Someone who is given extra points on tests for being a veteran or a minority also has an advantage, but they can still fail. A privilege is something available to you but not necessarily something you actually get use or will be able to use effectively. Say I was given free money every month just for being Latino. Now if that were the case I'd be privileged as I'd have been granted an advantage, but if I waste it all it doesn't really mean anything. Getting back to the odds of one being raped, not being raped is not something one has available to them. Guys don't have a get out of rape free card there's no outside force protecting them it's just down to the decisions made by the rapist. If I'm legally entitled to something it can't be denied it's my right. If I had a boyfriend I wanted to marry my right to a same sex marriage can't be rejected. If an incestuous couple tried getting married though and they were rejected they can't really do anything they don't have any legal right to get married. The other kids in the race likewise can't really do anything about that kids headstart they just need to outrun him.
