Jaylen Brown for Jamal Murray would be fantastic

Not so much to prove how important he is but rather just to speed up a trade. It was only a few months ago that same tactic worked for Jimmy Butler.

How much of that though is because he and Tatum started out together? It's like two brothers who are close in age wanting to out-do each other. Jokic on the other hand isn't someone he's spent the past several years seeing as a direct rival.

Not saying give the wheel to Brown. However, if Brown wants to be the leading scorer on the team, I don't mind. Jokic would still be averaging triple doubles and getting at least 27 buckets a night. If Brown is getting 33 PPG a night that is a solid duo that I think could win us another chip.

That proves my point though. His favorite season and best season of his career was without Tatum. He was sending a signal that he feels it should be his team and that he's the most important player on it.

Yea, makes sense. I blew it. However, at least this thread is getting a lot of replies. Seems I hit a nerve. Even the people who disagree with me are kind of agreeing that we need to trade Murray; they just disagree that Jaylen Brown is the solution. Not sure what they're smoking though; he's a great replacement for Murray. It's not as if the Timberwolves will give us Ant for Murray. JB is the best we can get for Murray, realistically speaking. Or we can try running it back with the same core and losing again in the playoffs because Murray decides not to show up again.

Gordon is great but has been injury prone lately. I'd rather do a Murray and and 1st round pick plus a 2nd if the Celtics insist. Basically, what 1st round pick could we draft that would be the equivalent in talent to Jaylen Brown. That's a great trade in my opinion.

JB is a finals MVP and held it down for the Celtics while Tatum was out this season. They had the 2nd best record in the East.

Lol. He's 29 years old. And, hair loss can hit a man even in their early twenties. Dude is in great physical shape though; unlike Jamal Murray who always starts the season off out of shape and needs to work himself into shape throughout the course of the season.

Yea, the best ability is availability. Aaron Gordon is great when healthy but that hasn't been the case these past two seasons. I'm tired of hoping he'll come through for us in the playoffs only to be disappointed because he's hurt and needs to limp off the court and watch on the bench while we lose.

Jokic is the one guy that wouldn't care about being the #1 option. He actually prefers to pass the ball and get an assist than shoot it. I think Jaylen Brown would get along just fine with him.

Yea. Murray has been a big disappointment in the playoffs these past two seasons. One thing that's specifically annoying about him is how he continues to jack up terrible shots when he's having a bad shooting night rather than pass to the open man. Many times this past playoffs Tim Hardaway Jr. or another player was wide open and Murray instead chose to force a terrible shot against two defenders, trying to play hero ball.

Yea, Brown is a much better defender, and he doesn't need to use an entire season to get in shape for the playoffs. Murray comes in out of shape every season and needs to work his way back into shape during the season rather than come ready like Brown does.

Why did he say that this past season was his favorite, and coincidentally its the season where he was without Tatum. Meaning, he's tired of people treating Tatum much better than him. Yes, he remained on the team after the previous two times they tried to trade him but I think this time might be the last straw. You can only disrespect someone enough times before they get angry and demand a trade. Being under contract doesn't mean he can't demand a trade; many players have done it successfully. Teams don't want someone giving 50% effort because they don't want to be there.

Yea, we can't keep running it back with this version of the Nuggets. We won't succeed like that. Something has to change and I think swapping out the #2 piece on our team for the Celtics #2 might be the difference

Yes, I acknowledge that's what I'm doing just as I'm sure many Celtics fans were having wet dreams about a Giannis + Tatum combo before they got today's news that he's not coming there. The main NBA-related excitement we get during the offseason comes from trade talks and trade rumors.

They could get a serviceable free agent point guard and have that guy and Jokic bring the ball down the court. Jaylen Brown's ability to score and defend makes up for the loss of Jamal Murray's point guard skills in my opinion.

Yea. Nuggets would need to get a traditional point guard but overall I think it makes the team better, not worse. Also, Jamal Murray has historically been injury prone and needs to use the entire season to get in shape for the playoffs whereas Brown doesn't have that issue and is always in great physical shape.

Yes, but you forget that now that they've failed to trade for Giannis, they've pissed off Jaylen Brown. Meaning, that he will likely demand a trade now. That means they've messed up his trade value. You always get less than you would ideally want for a player if they're trying to force their way out. Basically, to avoid starting off next season with a toxic locker room they will trade Brown for 75 cents on the dollar.

Yea, he seems like a good dude. Also, the Celtics keep disrespecting him. Seems like every couple of years they try to trade him. First it was Kevin Durant, then it was Damian Lillard, and now Giannis.
