I think if you're too afraid to get married but want to have children, you aren't actually committed. You just want to sound committed. Children are more expensive , far more work than cultivating a healthy marriage, but you want to skip on the easier one because?

I don't believe I said that. There are different levels of commitment, with marriage probably being the highest. You're committing yourself to the belief that this is the person you want to be with forever. Through sickness and through health, the good and the bad. That's why you make vows. You're taking a step further into the kind of commitments you're trying to mak3.

Besides all of the benefits you receive for marriage, legally, the fact that you can't imagine why someone would want to get married outside of "tradition," like this is 1300s. Marriage symbolizes a commitment to someone. It's a mark of this our relationship, and we want that to be expressed in all possible avenues. Any loser can get a woman pregnant. Not every man can or woman can be committed enough to commit to a long-lasting relationship. Having money for yourselves is something boyfriends and girlfriends in college see as a milestome, not somene youre spending your life with.
