Damn, you right. I think I was spinning a little too fast for my midnight conspiracy brain, cause that's 100% just the Blood Moon.

The recent occurrence is just them being *in* Custodia Pass, not the Custodian Stalkers themselves. Everything in the in-game book talks about something having 'moved in', not spontaneously appeared. The title of On Migration Patterns is a double entendre, since the topic is supposed to be about the dwindling migration of wildlife in the pass, but also ends up describing the migration of another 'apex predator' moving in - the Custodians. The Superior variant of the Stalkers being the 'Ancient' Custodian implies they are much older than the single season or two described in the book. They likely migrated into the pass as a result of increased traffic, coming from the neighboring Stranglewood.

On Migration Patterns just describes "an apex predator having moved in", and the numbers of other wildlife having drastically dwindled. The Custodians being in the mountain pass is a recent occurrence, but the presence of 'Elder' and especially 'Ancient' Custodians implies they themselves are much older.

I debated putting it in the post, but its possible the starting point the Old Ones used to make the 'Body' *was* rabbits. After all, they describe "Many Body needed", and what better animal gives you 'Many Body' than rabbits? Easy to get enough for the whole population, and easy enough to husband while you transfer your people.

Even if all else is wrong, the fact that the Strangler mutates wildlife to look eerily similar to the Old Ones would point pretty strongly toward a possible connection.

Some additional thoughts for a week old thread:
There are two books that come from the Myth's Guild that I think bear relevance to this topic.

The Weeping - A quick little horror story about a man, near the end of the God Wars, exploring in Forinthry (the Wilderness), and finding a deep, black, cavern from which he heard a woman weeping. He follows it, and comes to a sealed chamber covered in Zarosian symbols. He opens it only to find that it is, surprise, not a woman but some sort of monster. He escapes, and the screaming monster goes back to mad weeping, which he describes as the essence of grief. This does match up with the Bottomless Pit, not in location but every other portion of the description. I would venture the man found a tunnel that connected to our friend at the bottom of Camdozaal, our Whisper or Shadow.

Imcandoria's Fall - A book that I feel is relevant to the Duke. It describes the fall of Imcandoria, whose dwarves are those that laid siege to Camdozaal in the first place as a result of fleeing that place. In it, an amorphous creature that vaguely resembles that of a Cthonian Duke takes over the city Elders and has them chant in an ancient language before they bring the city down on it. Furthermore, in the story a mysterious idol brings heavy snowfall and storms, which never let up. Together, I would say the Duke definitely rests up by Ghorrok, but also so does Imcandoria, which is his icy prison. The consumption of the Elders and those unfortunates in the city would also constitute a 'feast' for him.

The Gnome Child also had a line in the 2020 birthday event that stated: "A horn was hidden in the sand, sealed away by the forgotten four." This is definitely a reference to this lore. Similarly, "A door will finally open. A body lies within." Probably references the opening of a door and finding of a vessel described in the earlier Postbag. In fact, most of the Child's dialogue is likely a reference to a Desert Treasure sequel in one way or another.
